1 Xenon headlight out
I replaced the angel eye lights with a LED replacement which is a perfect color match for the xeons. (super cool look btw) As advertised, no code... for a while. Then it started throwing a lighting warning on the dash. As everything was working, I ignored it.
Fast forward a few months and now the driver's xeon light is down. Swapped bulbs, the problem does not move. All wiring is pristine and intact. Puts a new headlamp warning on the dash now. I read that after 50 warnings for lighting the FRM might do this as a safeguard of some sort and that it can be reset or disabled but frankly I can't completely follow the instructions or the logic with the tools I have at hand. It's a Canadian 2011 128i m-package. I have bimmercode, bimmerlink and carly if that helps, but that's it. And I don't read german. :-) Thanks guys! |

Bump in hopes that new eyes will have an idea...
It's actually my daughter's car and she's running around with one headlight making me feel like a bad dad... |

Have you tried to swap out for the one on the other side to see if works? |

These are most likely the OEM headlamp bulbs originally supplied with the car. It was the Angel Eye bulbs I switched out for LED, they are still working fine. I'm trying to figure out why the drivers's side headlamp no longer works. |

The angel eyes are both fine, those are the aftermarket LEDs. It's the high/low beam that's not working on the driver's side, if I swap the bulbs the problem doesn't move so both (factory) bulbs are good.

do some more research on resetting the short circuit counter in the FRM. if you don't understand how to do it, you'll have to pay someone who does. or just bite the bullet and replace the FRM.

Does anyone know who can do this in the Ottawa, Ontario region by any chance? Dealer wants $1200 and I think buying a used one in this case is pretty risky... and really unnecessary if it just needs a reset. |
