No Michelin Pilot Super Sports for my 135is?

With the end of winter approaching (hopefully) here in Chicago, I was looking to get some new summer tires for my 135is. (I run a dedicated set of 17s with snow tires in the winter.)

But looking on tire rack for some PSS's, it says they're not available in my (stock) size? What's up? I could swear they were available a few months ago.

Being replaced by the PS4S and PS4, which is a good thing.

You can also try A/S3+. I am very happy with them.

PS4 is replacement for PS3. These are not performance tires. The latest PS4 is a softer tire with increased focus on fuel efficiency.

To replace the PSS you will want to get the "PS4 S".

Don't you mean "harder" compound tire ?

I should have been clearer. I mean the PS4 has softer sidewall construction and it gives very good ride quality. Less energy is dissipated in the sidewall, so it has benefits for fuel saving. To me the loss of lateral stiffness is noticeable and the steering response feels slow. I don't recommend the PS4 as a performance tire.

So right now there's no Pilot Sport option at all on Tire Rack or anywhere else in my factory sizes of 245/40 R18 and 245/35 R18. Is that going to change? Or should I just buy some Firehawk Indys?

(Not interested in the Pilot Sport All Seasons. I want a dedicated summer tire.)

I dont think MPSS has been available in the 215/40 + 245/35/18 combo for a while. It was easier to find in 225/40+255/35 combo.

Also are you using OEM sizes or the 335is sizes which are 225/40-18 and 255/35-18? If you upsize you have a lot more options, and I can say they fit without an issue on the 313 wheels. I think that’s the size the tires should be anyway.

OK, so I'm looking at Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's. They're available in the stock size of 215/40 18 and 245/35 18 OR the slightly wider 225/40 and 255/35 18s. Seems strange to me, but the wider option is actually significantly cheaper.

Will this slightly wider tire make a noticeable difference? Any rubbing? Any fitment issues on my stock 313's? I'm a "spirited" driver but have only tracked the car a couple of times. So it's mostly for spirited road use.

No issues whatsoever as far as I know. I am running the larger size with AS3+ tires. I know others are used no that size with other tires without issues. I actually like it better.

I am running Continentals in 225/255 on 313s. No issues whatsoever. Size seems right to me.

Sweet! Thanks for all the help, guys. Since the 255 is $50/tire cheaper than the 245, that's all the more reason to go a cm wider.

It's actually 1/2" inch wider and 1/3" bigger diameter front & 1/2" wider and 75" less diameter rear. In other words better all the way around.
