Vanos Solenoids - Which Brand?

Hi All - Looking to replace the vanos solenoids on my N55, but I can't seem to decide which brand to choose. I usually use rockauto for my parts as I am based in Canada, and the "premium" products they list are from the below manufacturers:

• Beck/Arnley
• Gates
• Standard Motor Products
• Cardone
• Ultra-Power (noted as "Economy")
• Spectra Premium (noted as "Economy")
• Vaico (noted as "Economy")

All of the above seem to fit as per realoem's part numbers.

Before I get hit with someone's shoe - Yes, I checked FCP Euro and they do have the "Genuine BMW" product available which is about 2x as much as the "premium" options on rockauto so I was just checking to see if anyone else has experience with the above. I did a bit of searching but can't seem to get enough info.

Any thoughts?

Just installed Vaico on my N54, 6k miles and so far no problems

Thank you! It was down to Vaico or Gates based on some research.

I bought the Gates, there made in china. I bought 2 and 1 threw a error code.

Can you recall what error code it was? Did it come on right when you turned on the car or when the oil got to operating temp?

2A82 the error came on after about 40 miles.
