Awesome PTF Dyno Tune

Jake from PTF did a great dyno tune for me today. Car has a Berk cat back and went from 268 lb ft and 270 hp to 368 lb ft and 354 hp. Dyno is a Superflo.
Car is much smoother with Max torque at 4500 rpm and max hp at 5600 rpm.
Highly recommended! Watch his site for a BIG new announcement!

I don't understand how you were able to get those great numbers on a dyno tune? I thought you needed a COBB or JB4 to get those numbers. Sometimes I feel dumb.

We use the Cobb AP to load custom maps for our customers.

A Cobb Protune is a customized tune flashed to your specific vehicles stock ECU through the Cobb device. Similar to the Hondata Flashpro is for Hondas, if that helps as an example.

Thanks for the replies, Allen and aM. Bieng an "old fart" I am always trying to figure out stuff. I have dyno'ed my car a few times in the past and was not really impressed with the numbers (hp 273/284 tq 273/291), with Mad Dad and PPK1 and DCT trans (which took a while to figure out how to dyno it) I always came away wondering if my N55 was working at it's max output. I have thought about a JB4 or COBB install but only after the warrenty is up Dec.14. Maybe a dyno tune is for me, as I presume my N55 will be tuned to the max and running the best it can. Would this be a correct assumption??

It's a night and day difference between a stock and Cobb'd car. The PTF tune is a step above and optimizes the tables to fit your particular car and any bolt ons that you have.
The car will spin it's tires in third even with DTC on. It's MUCH more fun to drive, is smoother, and actually runs more safely. With the Cobb, I was running 16 psi at max revs - now 15 psi with better power throughout a pretty broad powerband.
I think you'll enjoy it!

PTF please do e-tunes on the n55s!

I'd rather not settle on OTS tunes.

Good numbers and thanks for including a baseline beforehand.

Too many people get caught up chasing a number - and forget that a dyno is just a tuning tool.

My apologies, rsr552 is correct. N55 tuning support will be available soon from PTF but not currently.

Dang! I'll keep checkin in with yall when that does come available for the n55! Just to get it straight...Cobb is the only tuning avenue that can do custom tuning correct?

Correct. It is the only option available that provides us with what we need to do custom tuning. There are a couple other options available for the N54 but nothing that works nearly well enough in our opinions to use and certainly nothing available for the N55.
