I agree there a lot of people that still don't get it. Chris explains it best and backed it up with his own money on top.

Well not many have really experienced it and those that did may have wanted more, not knowing they are giving up a great balance to pursue "more"....
To me the 1M is just about perfect, my only gripe is I am not an original owner and the rareness makes me count the miles more than I should.

As to Chris Harris; To have the most famous car reviewer on the planet buy this car, adore this car, continue to adore this car, and keep publicly expressing his love for this car, as he tests and owns many other special cars is a testament to the car.

Artemis. Jason.

"Probably the greatest M car I've ever driven" should be the headline.

Seis Speed. Same here I am careful with the miles because I want to enjoy it a long time. That is probably the downside of the car. You know it's special and hard to replace. I wish I worried a little less than I do but when I do it makes me happy. The blend of old school with new school turbo motors that set precedent for the current cars is really the secret sauce. Thank you for posting!

Nacho ... drive it baby - lol - or buy a second one . So, the article talks about a “tune’ to 400 bhp .... me thinks that’s a safe remap with probably moderate boost. These baby’s can be pushed ... all I know is that when we had a cold snap to 60 degrees last week here in south Florida my Valencia acted like she was on steroids ......

Yup. the weather has been nice lately down in SoFlo, makes it soooooo hard to keep the miles off. I find myself driving this car more than the other options, which is why it has the most miles. I truly think like you all, and could never sell my 1M. Chris gets it, -just cuz it's newer doesn't mean it's bet'ta

So true, I had two experiences last week.

First one was brother in law's friend who has a pristine E92 M3 and is looking at a 1M. He heard from BIL that I had one and wanted to see one in person, he mentioned that my BIL said they're not worth it and he should just get a 135i as it's almost as quick and much cheaper. He asked me what I thought, I said " ask him if he's ever driven one " he said "I did, and he hasn't", I said, there you go.

Then I was at BMW selling them a bike and took a new M2 Comp for a test drive. At the end of the drive, the sales rep says to me, "so..... bit of a step up from the 1M of course, but the 240i would probably be a little step back". He asked me what I thought and I told him that the M2C wasn't really a step up for me and that I wasn't looking to change the 1M for it. He said "it's better to drive than the 1M", I said, "I disagree, have you ever driven a 1M?". He responded sheepishly........."well........ not really". There you go.

Hard to 'get' the 1M without driving one. That's where the magic is.

I’d just drive the heck out of it, but, if you’re that worried about it, you should add a modded 135i to your life while 135is are so relatively cheap.

Love the article, and thanks for sharing. Ouch on his commentary regarding the E90! Not how I’d characterize mine at all, and it’s tremendous in its own right. The 1M is absolutely more special, but I feel fortunate to get to experience both.

As many others i have persistent irrational emotions around the 1M. Its comforting to see that the popular car show hosts like JC an CH publicly share theirs.
