Car won't rev in park or neutral past 3k RPM
The other day I started the car warm and within 10 seconds tried to rev the engine but it wouldn't rev past about 3k RPM. Is this normal? Is there some sort of timer to prevent overrevving the engine after starting?

No. Is it a device with a valet mode?

After this happened, I drove home and while moving I put the car into neutral and it revs just fine. Also revs fine in drive.
There is no valet mode.

I'm pretty sure there's some safeguard against revving the engine too high on cold start. Probably what it is to be honest, not sure if there's ever been a definitive excerpt from the manual or anything like that to corroborate though.

That's what I'm thinking too. The oil temp was around 200F when I attempted this, but I suspect there may also be a timer involved that doesn't let the engine rev past ~3k for 10 seconds or so despite being warm. Would be easy to test, havent gotten a moment to test this though.
