DCT Malfunction light, limited gears
So this morning I had a issue with the DCT trans. I was accelerating from a dead stop and had to slam on my brakes due to someone running their redlight. Vehicle was just about to shift into 2nd when I hit the brakes hard.
Immediately after I hit the brakes the Transmission malfunction light came on and indicated only limited gear selection. Essentially I could ONLY use the odd numbered gears (1,3,5,7). Whenever I tried to push it into 6th or 4th using the paddles it clunked pretty harshly then immiedately jumped back into an odd number gear. Pulled over, shut the car off, restarted it, drove normally for 30 miles with no issues. Ive read up on other people with DCT malfunctions but it seems to be varied on the situations and solutions. Failsafe perhaps because it was midshift? something I need to really pursue dealerwise? 2012 135 dct w/ 75k miles |

Any update here? Just kinda sounded like something weird happened when you slammed on the brake (like a clutch got stuck or something since it didn't anticipate the braking), then it righted itself when you restarted the car.
Just wondering if there has been any symptoms since. |

You probably just scared the car into a limp mode of sorts. It's hard going from acceleration to sudden, hard braking, as you described it. It probably did this to protect it from being stopped in-between 1st and 2nd again.
