I never touched them. If I use manual I use the shifter. I guess 30 years of driving manual cars I don't even remember the paddles are in my car. But I got a Rod Sutphin custom trans tune and the sport mode is so much fun I've only been using manual for logs
Do you use the paddles? |

I have a DCT E82 and use the paddles when I drive spiritedly however I have an aftermarket steering wheel and paddles that makes it not very convenient due to proximity to the stalks. I previously had an SMG equipped BMW and used it regularly.

I don't have paddle shifters on my E88 but I recently rented a Challenger that came equipped with them, along with a healthy Hemi. I suppose this was the Dodge equivalent of a Mustang GT. I have to admit it was a blast, got all the right burbles, etc.!

If I'm having a bit of fun around the few curves in my area, use them.
Normal driving - I'll use them to downshift if I need a little burst instead of the kickdown.

Fun driving on some roads yes.
Normal day to day, only when needing to make a pass or accelerating on the highway and don't want to switch to different sport mode with different trans shifting logic. |

I have the DCT, use the paddles about 50%, when I do it's usually left paddle for downshifting, the stick for upshift. The only time I'm not in sport mode is the last mile home to play nice for the neighbors 😉

Downshifting occasionally coming into a corner or off ramp to shed speed.

Pretty nifty to read the responses above, and I'm surprised there aren't more folks posting the same answer I have...
I use em all the time. Probably 90% of my driving is on the paddles. I'll let it warm up some if she's been sitting for a while, but once up to temp I'm typically on the paddles. Running XHP Stage 3 trans tune probably helps that attitude somewhat since the shifts are crisp and quick compared to stock.

Yeah, I can't afford anymore speeding tickets. Car is too fast for canadian speed limits. Most highways 100-110KPH with one road up to 120KPH. Would be nice to be on the Autobahn again with this car but alas I am here.
However when I go on a winding road I do switch to the paddles and enjoy the crap out of the drive!! Otherwise, like other posts, I use them to gear down and not the brakes and to keep the revs up for exiting to corner. |

I should chime in...I use the paddles 99% of the time. I prefer a stick, but these things are just too cool to not use. I press the "SPORT" button on the console near the shifter, and drive on, loving the sounds coming from under the hood and out the exhaust...and my car is stock.
