Let's Play "What is this?" and "What is missing?"
Poking around in the trunk of the 2011 128i I bought last week and have some questions about what is and what is not there.
1. Found this key-like thing - any idea what it is? 2. In the storage area there are some threaded mounting holes - what would or should go there? 3. Behind the storage/battery area, there is some sort of electronics device, perhaps with part of it (or a second device) missing? Not sure if this, or perhaps a missing component, is related to the sound system - there is no stereo in the car. It appears that there was an aftermarket stereo. Thanks for helping me learn about my new project! K9Leader 2011 BMW 128i E82 2010 BMW 328i E91 1999 C5 Corvette 2003 Subaru Baja |

1) No idea.
2) I think it's a Europe only thing that goes there, some sort of kit for repairing a flat tire or adding oil or something like that. "Mobility kit" comes to mind. 3) Another "I think" - I think it's a spot for a Bluetooth module. |

The first item is a flint and steel to start fires with. You can test it by sparking it with a pocket knife to be certain.
The second area is for a hard styrofoam cutout that holds everything for the tire mobility kit secure. Since BMW delivered the car with runflats in the United States we do not have them The third I am not sure about |

There is a BMW Mobility Kit - compressor, tire sealant, tire pressure gauge, and gloves, all in a zippered nylon cloth case. It does not appear to have anything that would have fastened it down to the threaded holes. At least this tells me that I'm not missing something that should be there.

The mobility kit in the nylon case is the newer version. I have posted the thread below which has the part number for the foam insert for the mobility kit.
https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1561057 I also want to note, that the only picture I can find online of it is on German Ebay. I really cannot confirm the fitment of the foam piece as depicted on realoem. I am comparing the shape of it and I am not sure if it fits. I am curious if someone here has already ordered the part and tried it? https://www.ebay.de/itm/144151217060...75.c101224.m-1 Last edited by DönerPorsche; 10-14-2021 at 11:57 AM..
