PDC problem

Just picked up my new 325xi tonight and CA did not go over PDC. Got it home and could not get it to work. What am I missing? Cannot fine PDC button that is shown in the manual but sensors are in the back. Any ideas?

There is no PDC for North American build models. You only get the PDC button if you have the front *and* read PDC, which we don't get. Since our PDC is rear only, it is activated simply by putting the car in reverse.

yes, my 325 came as standard with rear PDC. With iDrive I see a diagram of the car on screen with green, yellow and red rectangles appearing as I back up closer to say another car. Combined with the beeping interval frequency shortening as I move closer to the object, the PDC works a real treat.

Hope you sort you problem.

Put your car in reverse and have someone walk past the back of the car , you will hear the PDC ( dont accidently hit the person)

And if there is a problem with the PDC (such as one of the sensors not working), you will get an error on the car :-) It looks like a triangle, with a P and 3 arcs!

Offense taken....just kidding. I got mine becuse it was an inexpensive option that will more than likely become standard when I sell my car. What other "gee whiz" option costs under $400?

I don't NEED PDC, i WANT PDC!

You'd be surprised how much easier it makes things. Reverse parking is a sinch, reversing out of tight spots - i don't even need to turn my head...just peep peep peep peeeeee (omg I am going to die if I go any more backwards) - 1st gear, sound stops and I am on my way...

PDC is really cool….. I am used to it ..... I don’t even need to look back when I backward my car don’t even look in mirrors …. I just have to look at my Idrive display that shows me how far the car is from obstacles. I do envoy this 300$ option (the cheapest option in the cars) I find it really cheap for how often I use it

Works fine

Glad to see my post generated some interest but really want to thank all of you that filled me in on the US config. What is sad is that BMW can make such a great car and do such a half **s job on the manual. I think they make enough money to have an accurate onwers manual for the US.

PDC is good for us absent minded folks. And for $320, it is a option worth having. Will save you lot of trips to body shops.

First, it's spelled Driver Ed, not "drivers."
How is a Driver Education class supposed to teach someone how to have eyes on the back of their car to see exactly how close they are to anything at all behind them?

Not sure if you have iDrive. If so, there is an option within iDrive to enable/disable it.

I love PDC. It does help you park, but that's not why I like it. I like it because it saves you from running over people! I always park in busy places (crowded malls, supermarkets) where people often walk behind your car out of no where. I had parking sensors on my Subaru and it stopped me from running over people criss-crossing in the parking lot. I also think it's a nice option, since many cars in Europe have it, so it adds to the Euro-spec look.

I love PDC for one reason. Have it on both of our vehicles. Given the I don't give a shit attitude by parents these days it's nice to have a bit of a warning when these LOSER parents allow their little ones to run uncontrolled through the local Target parking lot. Whatever happened to holding your todlers hand or looking out for where they are. Oh I forgot - we are in that DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR KID ERA - sad but true.

PDC is great, but I just wish they had parking sensors for the front of the car as well...I don't know why the European models get it and we don't. The new IS has it....
