Ipod/USB Adaptor & Ipod interface adaptor

Can anyone here explaing to me the difference between the two?
Ipod/USB Adaptor is listed as a $400 option
Ipod interface adaptor is listed at $320.
Was at the dealer yesterday, and as expected,..noone there had any clue as to what the difference is.
