I have driven several Audis. Guess Piezzo is a different type of DI then FSI.

My '02 330xi always had a significant tick, as did my E30 325ix. Both getting MUCH louder with age. The 330xi had the M54B30 engine which is what our N54 is based on. The ticking was always considered "normal" by dealers and master techs. My Dad's old E36 M3 had a very loud tick, that car would nearly stall on humid days. BMW power plants have some character you just have to learn to accept.
I brought my 1er in a few months back just before my fuel pump went for a slight ticking noise associated with rough idle. It sounded like a helicopter in the distance. At the time it occurred at all temps, now it's back and only on cold start. Is this kinda what you guys are hearing? I'll mention it again at my scheduled oil change but I'm not too concerned about this. |
