Had I known there was a SIB on this, I would push pretty hard for them to look into this.

BTW, how has this not been treated as a recall? The car would frequently stalls at a intersection or on the road, that's a pretty scary scenario if you ask me. Just not enough volume of 135i to not cause a recall?
The dealer will charge you for the update if you are out of warranty. There was one member I know of who was out of warranty but stated he wrote a letter to BMW complaining that these problems were a safety issue and was able to get the update free of charge. Here is the thread where he discusses it:

My car has the DCT, is bone stock, and I use Sam's premium gas. It has around 22K miles.

The car always lurches off from idle when I step on the gas. If I crawl along in traffic, I can count on the engine surging. Sometimes it stalls. If I stop for a light, the engine sometimes has a slight hesitation. It idles around 700 RPM. It has stalled a couple of times too.

So I have similar problems as the most of you do. I also have an additional one with the DCT. If I start off slowly and the DCT shifts up a gear or two then I have to slow down, the DCT shifts down into 1st with a loud clunk!

If I keep this car, I'll get the extended warranty just for peace of mind!

This is what my car is doing also. It sounds like we have the same set up and mileage. I'm going to the dealer on Thursday and hopefully this will get better. It has definitely degraded over the last couple thousand miles.

I had this problem as well, and it was such a PITA. I got a quote from the dealer for about $300 to install the DME software. I actually ended up getting a PPK flash for $80 which I believe includes the DME software. It fixed my issues so far, about 1 week in. Life is so much better now that I can turn on my A/C .

How do you get a PPK flash for $80? I thought they were a lot more than that?

Got it from Joe at this thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...1250118&page=1

It was honestly an easy (and a loooooot cheaper) process. He sends you the cables, and all you need is wi-fi, battery charger (I grabed a 20AMP one from wal-mart, then returned it right after), and about 30 minutes.

The dealer quoted me $1500 for PPK. They probably wonder why they don't sell it a lot.....

For PPK1? That's crazy! shopBMWUSA.com offers it for $585. Plus you'd have to pay labor.

You could get it here ---->> http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1250118

They may have been quoting you this, which is $1495 on Tischer:
Genuine BMW Performance Power Kit for N55 Engines, Version 2 (135i/335i - from 3/10 and on)
OEM BMW Performance Power Kit for N55 Engines - for 135i and 335i vehicles produced from March 2010 with the N55 engine! This Power Kit includes a software upgrade to increase power output, an auxiliary water cooler and a more powerful radiator fan to increase engine cooling capacity.

Yeah, no need to buy PPK2 unless you track your car IMO. I had PPK1 from 2011 to 2016 and never had an overheating issue and I drive very spiritedly at times. Some people disagree with this but this is what I think based on my experience.

You might want that extra cooling if you plan on adding some more power later. Don't know how much it would help.

Hi everyone!
I've been having the same problem with my car almost since I bought it.

Car: 2013 135i N55 with DCT (no PPK)

Symptoms:
- Engine Stuttering
- Jerkiness Stalling with A/C
- Car jumps forward when coming to a stop... it kinda feels like when doing a "heel-toe" downshift from 2nd gear to 1st gear including a knock noise from the engine fighting to keep it running on very low RPMs.
- The car started to have these issues since stock at around 8000 miles.

Current mods on my car:
- JB4 with ISO mod and JB4 connect kit
- BMS Intake
- Helix FMIC
- Megan Racing Downpipe
- Mid resonator deleted
- COBB Chargepipe

Actions already taken to attempt to fix the issue:
- Took the car to the dealer for a software update (Mentioned the SIB 12 15 14)...... Didn't fix it
- Did a DCT adaptations reset via Tool32 on a K+DCAN cable.... Didn't fix it
- Did a Throttle Adaptations reset (regular pedal procedure)...... Didn't fix it
- Updated my JB4 firmware to the latest version and switched to Map 5.... Didn't fix it
- Regular oil change on the N55 engine.... Didn't fix it
- Scanned the car for old codes... No codes saved

I'm lost now guys, Every single thread on any forum suggest to bring the car to the dealership and mention the SIB 12 15 14... but this DID NOT fix my issue. Summer is coming and hot weather is increasing... A/C must be turned on almost all the time.
The car feels awful when coming to a stop and jumps forward like it's about to launch hard...
One notorius symptoms is that the car does this only when the DCT and N55 engine achieve the regular temperature conditions. It does not do it on cold transmission temps.

PLEASE HELP!

No, it was just the PPK update. They try to settle how would be extra power and so much more....

I'm almost in your same exact boat buddy. Except I don't have a DP or FMIC

From what I've learned the PPK should fix it, and can work with a JB4. I plan on doing the PPK soon

I too wrote a letter to BMW USA and I suggest everyone on this forum do so that is having this problem. There contact information is listed on there website. Be prepared to put up a fight but be sure to explain to them the dangers of the stalling. My 2011 was out of warranty and I went back and forth with them for over a month before I got the problem resolved. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS and expect them to pay you back. Make them cover this. Ultimately my dealer ended up covering it for me since the knew my struggle and offered to take it up with BMW USA. I don't mind paying for for the problem had it been something I did or if it were a mechanical issue, but the update to the ECU should always be covered since it is fixing a problem the car left the factory with.

I am happy to say that SIB 12 15 14 fixed the problem. Before the fix my car was all but completely undriveable. If anyone would like to see the letter I wrote, I am happy to post it.

for me, latest factory software flash, and fixing a leak at an intercooler connection fixed all idle and lag issues. this latest factory software a couple of months ago. they did a nitrogen leak test to find the leak.

More than likely your DME needs to be updated to a version that corrected this issue. If you want to avoid a trip to the dealer, let me know.
