Crack in glass over instrument cluster?

Just noticed it Saturday: about 1/4" crack in the glass over the speedometer and small cracks in seal that holds the glass in place. Anyone else have that? Will check with dealership later today about replacing it.

Never heard of that problem before - curious as to what your dealer says as to cause & resolution.

Yea, it's a small 1/4" crack and the seal feels like it has several cracks in it. Definitely something 'new' on the forum. Peculiar.

It's covered by warranty. Not sure as to the cause, but the service manager @ Kuni BMW said it is covered. Just need to get the part in and an appointment to take care of it. Kuni customer service rocks! I've never been disappointed with them.

Did they have to replace the whole cluster or can they do just the cover?

Just the cover. Should be quick and easy. Will post a pic later today.

Hello,
I have the same problem on my cluster, 2cracks on the cluster, dealership says it looks like it was hit, which i did not, they will charge me around 2600 can $ to replace and reprogram the thing. Am sure just replacing the glass will not cost more than 100$ , anyone knows how to fix or change that? Will submit a picture soon

Mine occurred in 2010 when the car was yet under warranty; it was not caused by me but was a defect. IIRC, the problem was that the glass cover is not separable from the rest of the cluster. You might check with a local BMW specialist to see if they have any experience with it.
