Non-sport vs M-Sport steering wheel
Is the M-sport steering wheel thicker than the non-sport steering wheel? Or is there actually any difference other than the fancy M logo?

Ehh... the M steering wheel much nicer than than the regular one, but personally, not worth the price to pay for one if your car didn't come equipped with.

Just to nit-pick, the "base" steering wheel in the 1er is known as the "sport" steering wheel. It's the same wheel you get with the 3 Series with sport pack. The 3 Series without sport pack includes a thinner "non-sport" wheel, but no 1er comes with it.
So I guess what I'm saying is that there are actually 3 wheels - Non-Sport, Sport, and M-sport, each one thicker than the next. All three are available on the 3 Series while only the latter two are offered on the 1 Series (probably Euro 1ers come with the base wheel standard).

Pictures don't do it justice. You have to drive both for yourself to get the comparison, and I must say I absolutely love the meatier M-wheel. I couldn't care less about the "M" badge but I'm so glad I have it just for the feel and driving experience.

and... the M3 tri stitched steering wheel...
This will fit on any 1er or 3er. You will just need the M-sport air bag if you have the non M sport wheel.
