I always drool over those colors. On my way to work I saw a Le Mans M-Sport and it was gorgeous, older guy driving it too.
Space Grey is also pretty fantastic. The best part is that it's a neutral color, so it doesn't matter what trim or wheels you choose, it all just works together.

Never been big on blues, but the Montego blue just looks right on the 1 series. Just stands out for me.

Interesting!

I've always thought that blues belong on BMWs. My dad's E39 540i/6 in Orient Blue is what started that, and my car (when clean) is what keeps that alive for me.

Agree on blue... my favorite. To me it's just the right color!

Thank you! I love the color and it looks best in the late afternoon when it looks blue in some spots and purple in others.

It was definitely an awesome experience! Best part was when we got done working on it dor the 1st day and got it running and took it down the road without the hood latch cause my dad made a rookie mistake of “eh it will hold” and it was fine till we turned back around and he floored it..

Just installed the turner intake boot today. The blue intake boot looks nice in the engine bay. There was a little bit of a sound difference below 4k rpm but is noticeable. Once you get over 4k the intake noise is louder and almost sounds like faint droning but isnt bad at all. Havent drove around with it too much but i think it was somewhat worth it. Also got 2 ECS stickers that spiced up my side windows

I got the Mishimoto boot, pretty much the same thing. It makes some great noises! I also spaced out my filter box, now it's just ridiculous! I need to get an exterior sound recording, I'm hoping it will sound like an S54 with an intake, just without the 8200rpm redline, sadly...

How exactly did you space out your intake?

I'm going to be hounded for my solution, but...

I used Erector set pieces and some longer screws from the local hardware store.

Here's a picture:

I need to fiddle with the fitment as it's rubbing on the upper coolant hose, which is an uncomfortable thought, but I haven't had any problems after about 2k miles with it...

That's unfortunate! I'm sorry to hear/see that. You just aren't having the best of luck as of recently...

Maybe I can one-up you: I was hit in the same area twice within two weeks. First time was on the first test drive with my freshly rebuilt shifter and SSK install, new driver pulled a righty into the back of me as I was slowing for a car turning right into that same gas station. Second one I was sideswiped and knocked into a tank-slapper en-route to the airport; other party had no idea where they were going, and changed lines right into the side of me, no signal or anything.

It sucks to see your pride and joy damaged; it really sucks when the body shop cares so little that they can't even wash it without putting swirl marks across the entire car (why I'm detailing my car now)...

I'm in a real similar position (no way a 20yo can buy a 10 grand car in its entirety these days) but I've noticed on this forum as long as you're humble about it no one really cares if your parents bought the car. Big difference between being bought a used 128i and a new Land Rover.

Otherwise, welcome!!!!!!! Sport, manual and a fantastic color. Proper 128i spec

Also let me know if you want info on the 3-stage mani on the cheap $$.

chris_flies , I think your 'youngest owner' title may be in jeopardy
i got my 1er as a 16 y/o and i paid half for it. as for mods ive paid everything myself. im 17 now

Hey, tire letters are cool!

(I painted the letters white on my track tires, but swap them on and off for events)

I mean, sure, if you have really nice tires like Michelin's, or Nitto's...

BTW, I saw a BRZ with tire letters on some off-brand all seasons.

its all good! Sorry to hear about your unfortunate events too . I think all of this is cause the car is turning 10 years old this year lol.

I feel you with the body shop part. Cant say i was that satisfied with the paint work done on my car in the front from when we repaired it and had to get it painted. First, there was overspray in some areas and just where they cut corners in other spots. There was also a spot where the paint started to peel a few months later.. Then when i got my bper fixed from the fox and cat incident the bumper came back having some chips and had some decent orange peel too it. All of this was done at the same shop that is supposed to have a good reputation too...
