This is better than a class action, cause bad national press can quickly result in lost sales and a tarnished image. Now, BMW will NEED to react quicker. There have been comments about a voluntary recall to replace all HPFP's in N54 engines. Perhaps this will accelerate that recall. Problem is, if BMW doesn't have a complete fix/cure, then they'll be throwing away money at constantly replacing HPFP's BMW HAVE to find a fix, cause their future is in direct injected turbo engines requiring a HPFP. BRING IT! |

Soliciting photos of what, exactly? Pictures of cars that have had their fuel pumps replaced? Pictures of fuel pumps? Pictures of cars stuck on the side of the road?

We have been contacted by reporters from ABC who are doing a story on the BMW fuel pump issues. We are told the story will run on Oct. 26th on Good Morning America and Nightline. As part of the story, they would like to flash up on the screen happy BMW owners posing with their new cars. They will then contrast this with the nightmare people have been experiencing with their cars. I'm told the photos will only be on the screen for a short period of time.
If you have an appropriate photo and are interested, please e-mail it to me and I'll pass it on. Stuart Talley stalley@kcrlegal.com 401 Watt Ave. Sacramento, California 95864 Phone 1-916-448-9800 Fax 1-916-669-4499 http://www.kcrlegal.com |

But, we've seen that coming based on how much bashing, by actual owners, there has been on this enthusiastic site. There's always good with the bad. Or, careful what you wish for. This is one of reasons why many of us lease. The manufacturer decides what they think their car will be worth. In this case BMW may reap what they sow. Still, most people who loan purchase say they do it cause they want to keep their cars at least 5yrs and beyond. In that case, getting your HPFP fixed properly is a necessity, and this can help in that regard. For me, I like to drive a new car every 3yrs, thus leasing makes more sense to me, but that's just me, as I know others see it differently. |

I dont live the USA so i dont have to worry, this little rocket is more demanded than STIs,S4,S3, and can keep up with R8s when tunned. Hope BMW gives a press conference to inform what are they doing and give some trust to bimmer motoring community. It can be anything. Bad parts are not design flaws, are manufacturing and in this century almost every part comes from a different source even the software. I this car where 100% made in germany, the car will cost triple. The only parts made at home is some japan manufactures but they lack of design but spare on quality. good luck. |

Sell it already and move on. Hopefully you'll have better luck with the next brand you choose. I suggest Honda or Toyota or Buick, as they rate very well in terms of reliability. |

Correct me if I am wrong but the number of people on this board represents a tiny fraction of N54 owners, and of those on the board only a small percentage have had fuel pump issues. I am not trying to say that it's not a serious problem but I think people tend to read a handful of posts on a message board and immediatley think OMG it's an epidemic.

oh gawd this is pathetic....
u guys should look on the bright side if your having so much hpfp issues then just wish to have it 3 times file a lemon, get your money back or a nice settlement and put cash in your pocket... just saying... i had 2 hpfp issues before i gave my car away, if a third one arose i would have for sure filed a claim... (not speaking for people outside of CA since i dont know how your guyss laws work, im mainly talking about California people)

Cars break down, it's nothing new. you should all be happy we live in the years 2000+ because way back in the day, we'd be getting break downs on a regular basis, and not caring because it was a fact of life. Quote:

I think the HPFP failure rate is higher than what BMW claimed. I had my HPFP replaced around 35000 miles. I wonder any one here in this forum who had not had their HPFP replaced after 50,000 miles; else I will assume most people here either had their HPFP dying or replaced at least once; which would be a very high failure rate.
