No way to turn off the eLSD (other than by leaving DSC and DTC on), but it's been found to not interfere with true LSDs, when installed.

Exact, the Quaife seems faster than e-LSD avoiding this one to interfer, even on track. The quaife makes a huge difference in traction.

Cheers

I went onto Vivid's website the other day and saw this LSD for 3 1/2K. Glad too see its much more reasonable for us step owners.

installation

Is the installation of this going to be something super difficult, or should any descent mechanic/drivetrain guy be able to do it? Are there any special BMW tools necessary for the job?

Installation is actually easier on a 6sp manual car, since all that needs to be done is the entire final drive unit gets unbolted and the new unit bolted in place. Most gas stations could do that (heck, I've replaced entire final drive units on my other bimmer before, and it's not difficult), though I'd recommend somebody slightly more knowledgeable than your corner gas station.

If you have a slushie, the parts are a lot cheap, in that you only have to purchase the Quaife unit (not the entire final drive unit, since the ring gears are not welded on the automatic tranny cars), but opening the diff case and making sure the replaced unit is aligned properly, is more specialized and costly. If they've installed one before on any car, they have the tools...

Got my Quaife ordered from Harold a few days ago. I couldn't afford it, but the cold weather related tire spin was driving me crazy. I'm sure the Quaife and the new Toyo T1R's that I also just had to buy will help.

That is about right for a complete Quaife or Wavetrac final drive using a new BMW final drive housing.

I've had my Quaife on for a week now and believe it or not I have not gotten a traction control light yet! Of course I haven't really tried yet but I do drive fairly aggressively at times. For sure my new tires make a difference too, my old set were so worn I probably had gotten accustomed to not gunning the throttle too hard knowing that I'd just spin anyways.

It's an expensive mod (cost me over $2k installed) but well worth it if you want to properly be able to use all the horsepower these cars have.

There is Quaife application for both 128i and 135i!

price on LSD for 128i. Also, what about a return from turning in our complete dif? I have no use for it, but you should.

What is the application for the 128i? Does it include an entire final drive and is it geared differently than the stock unit? Thanks.

Quaife is the only the LSD portion only, there is no change of gear ratio at all.
