why don't they break in for us at the factory?

wouldn't it be the best if they do the break in for us before they sell it? because they(BMW) build the damn thing and they know best of how to break in their cars.

Is there a reason why don't they do that before shipping out? I rather let them do that, and at the moment I get my car, I can redline if I want to.

cars dont even require break-ins anymore. It's just that BMW recommends it so it wont cause probs down the road. They tested the engines and everything but then the car sits for months before it's bought. It doesnt hurt to go slow for a while. Think of it as...a longggggggggg warm up.

Patience is virtue..It doesn't take much to since you are going to be riding your new car a lot when you just get it..I know I did..

I'm sure BMW would be thrilled to hire a team of people to drive every one of the cars they produce for 1250 miles before shipping them to dealers.

There's a truth to that. BMW factory workers get to borrow cars free of charge, then those cars are sold to BMW dealers as CPOs.

The egines do come broken in( in a sense ). The problem is, the brakes, tires, drivetrain etc all need to be broken in aswell, under real conditions.

I am sure you would not like to go buy a brand new car, look at the tires and see they have wear on them? The only way the factory would be able to really break in the cars, is to drive them for a couple hundred miles. I personally would not like some ass getting stone chips all over my paintwork etc.

Do you have any idea how many thousan BMW get produced a day ?

Imagine the emmisions those would give off to be run-in at the factory

Our small factory here makes around 300 E90 a day
Munich and Regensburg make over 800 each
Leipzig over 600
Dingolfing makes around 1500 5 Series a day

wow good to know they're doing well.

i don't know what's so horrible about the break-in. i'm actually sad that i already broke my car in since there is nothing more to look forward to and the car is officially "not new" anymore...;(
