Where to buy BMW parts in Canada

The US suppliers provide great advice, service, availability and pricing. Personally, I have had good experience with:

HP Autowerks
Pelican Parts
Turner Motorsports
Tire Rack
ECS Tuning

The problem, of course, is that shipping charges, exchange rate and brokerage charges are brutal.

I bought my car at Endras and have nothing bad to say about their service department. They gave me a "VIP" card that is good for 20% off on service (including the parts used).

The problem is that the Endras parts department is a separate entity and PROFIT centre. They don't give me 20% off and they want to charge full retail, which simply doesn't fly. If I buy brake rotors as part of a brake service they will cost me half of what the parts department wants to charge me. If you are a shop, they do offer trade pricing but it is still higher than what I would pay for the parts through the service department (who only sell them as part of service, of course). I have tried to reason with the parts department, but they are inflexible. Do we look like idiots to them?

My experience with the parts departments at other local BMW dealers is similar, although some can have their arms twisted sometimes. I am not interested in having to negotiate pricing every time I want to buy parts. We can see what they are actually worth by going to the ECS website, which shows just how much markup there is on list prices. Frankly, to pay list price you need to be desperate or a sucker.

So I have searched out dealers who are interested in selling OE parts on line at decent prices. What I found was Park Shore BMW in Surrey, BC. They have a rudimentary website for ordering on line but the range of parts listed is very limited. It is better to call or email them directly to get a quote. If you spend over $75 they will ship the parts to you by Purolator at no charge.

Their pricing is 5% off comp pricing, which works out to be about half of list price on most items and puts their pricing very close to ECS and the decent US suppliers (if not below, when exchange rate is accounted for). Best of all no shipping charges on any reasonable order. You will, of course, pay HST also.

A couple of examples for the 135i:

Front Brake Rotors $133.00 each ($252.66 list)

Rear Brake Rotors $90.25 each ($185.00 list)

So, if you are looking for decent pricing on OE parts give them a try.

Call Doug Smith at 604 985 9395

or email him at parts (at) parkshorebmw.com

I live on the other side of the country and have no affiliation with Park Shore. I am just interested in sharing a good source. Anyone else found a decent Canadian source for BMW OE parts?

Actually, a few other places I have had good experience with:

For Schwaben Tools in Canada, try Calgary Autoworks.

For Moton, JRZ, Ohlins, Hawk and Motive, try Paragon Competition (Vaughan, ON).

For Swift Springs, try Touge Tuning (Mississauga, ON).

Marenello BMW in Toronto gives a discount to www.maxbimmer.com members - not sure what the discount is like but could also try there.

If you're in the GTA there's only one source for parts you need for any OEM stuff and even some aftermarket.

^ thanksfor the tip. In this day of fake "factory" pads & rotors how would one know they are legit?

Budds says my 2011 128i needs brakes at 50000kms, Budds wants $1200 to "replace complete front and rear brakes 2mm"

Randy Sparre at ExoParts is legit. The part that I needed for an exhaust install actually had a label from a local BMW dealership as well. Maybe he gets deals from a dealership or gets extra parts from them. He wouldn't sell anything less than OE BMW.

And another thing about Budds' is that they do have good service, but the cost is sometimes a little higher than other places. They were honest about messing up something on the bumper when I had my bike rack installed, so they did a complete bumper repaint etc for free.

For those that might be considering Apex wheels, you can buy direct but Apex has only one shipping option to Canada - UPS Worldwide Expedited at $624.51 USD for shipping to my location! I don't think so!

Alternately, buy them from Turner Motorsports. They have several shipping options including UPS Standard (3 days from their door to mine) for $116.79 USD. Very reasonable considering the shipping weight is nearly 100 lbs for 4 wheels.

I live in Vancouver and I am only a 5 minute drive to the border. Luckily in the town just across the line (Blaine Washington) there is several stores that do parcel receiving for a small fee...usually about $2 a parcel. I have ordered many things from the US and I can usually find free shipping within the US. Most of the parts are significantly cheaper. The last order I did was an oil change kit...BMW Castrol oil, filter, cabin filter, air filter and spark plugs. It ended up about 40% cheaper then I could get it up here. I always claim my purchases at the border and have been waved thru the border. This means no duty and NO TAX! Most of the US parts come with no sales tax. If you ship out of certain states you don't pay that state tax.

The only time I have had to pay the PST/GST was on my winter wheel/tire set up. Even then I was paying the same tax rate I would have paid if I purchased up here but I was paying it on a significantly lower purchase price.

I have had luck with ECS tuning, Burger Motorsports and Bavarian Autoparts. I also get my detailing supplies from Detailed image and Detailers domain.

Exclamation BMW parts in Canada or Quebec

Try Blueberry Motorsport in Quebec. They have really good prices, quality parts and they find almost anything OEM or Aftermarket if you contact them by email or phone.

One other option to consider when bringing in parts from the US. I signed up for crossborderpickups.ca, and ordered a bunch of parts to them. I know a few guys that have used them and they have saved quite a bit of money on shipping and brokerage this way. They give you a US address so you can take advantage of free shipping in the US (its in NY state). They charge flat fees for bringing the shipment over to the CDN side and you can pick up from their warehouse in Mississauga, or for an additional fee get it shipped direct to you via Canada Post. All rates are on their site....

PS: I'm not affiliated with them in any way, just providing an option....

Kinek is also a great service for boarder shipping with US receiving centres. They have a great app too.

Endras do a good oil change kit (about $70 for a 135) if you mention
"Maxbimmer forum"
Also a good place I found for wheels and tires is Wheelsco.ca in Vaughan,
I got a set of winter tires and alloy wheels for around $1400 which was way cheaper than than importing a set from Tirerack.

Very pleased with price and service from Sean at Exoparts in Toronto. Wouldn't really have saved anything importing my Performance Brake Kit from the U.S.

Ottawa

Being in Ottawa, I get most of my parts from Bav Auto in New Hampshire. They also have one of the best, if not the best DIY sections. Numerous people have commented upon their video on replacing the electric water pump on many of our cars. And, they have their Show and Shine every October with free food and FREE BEER. Go to their site and look thru their pictures of Show and Shine taken every year.
Now, all that being said, I am willing to try Exoparts or the other place (Blueberry?) in Quebec.
