Windshield Wipers - Be Careful
I was wiping down the car after a wash and gently pulled a microfiber towel over the passenger side wiper and somehow disengaged the the wiper blade from the spring loaded metal carrier arm which slapped the windshield from about 1" above the glass and fukn cracked it. I can't believe this has happened already. There is no way BMW will warranty this right? I must be dreaming.

Ugh. That blows. I doubt they'd cover it since it not a manufacturing or assembly defect. God, I hate that feeling you get when stuff like that happens. I don't really go haywire on my wipers, I just rub them down gently with an alcohol swab.
Is it a scratch or a crack?

A rock hit the windshield of our E90 the first week we owned it. As a good will gesture, BMW replaced the windshield at no charge. Good luck

This is about the oldest incident to look out for that has been stickied on the 1 series forums. You're not the first to experience this, and it's not new that a wiper snapping back onto the windshield will most likely crack it.
I don't see how this would be a warranty issue. If the crack is big enough, your insurance may offer a replacement/repair free of charge (this is possible in multiple states, you may want to check where you live). |
