Any Prius owner/buyer/lease advice?

I'm looking into leasing then buying a Prius as a daily driver. Anyone know of any incentives, dealer programs to reduce/waive fees. I drive more or less 100 miles a day in traffic and city driving so this car would be it for the long haul.

what model are you looking at?

i drive close to 40k miles a year for my job so a prius was a no brainer IMO

so far at 110k miles and absolutely no issues at all, the brake pads look brand new and the oem tires last close to 60k miles.

if you can, get the one that can be charged at home as well to make it even more efficient

Myself couldn't believe I'd be considering a prius. Just having another douchebag car but oh well. I came up on a deal '12 $19k, 35k miles, maintainence warranty until 2019, drivetrain warranty until 2022, $298 a month, $100 full coverage ins.

I came up on 40k miles on my E90 just for work last year so having this car was also a no brainer.

Get a Jetta TDi sport wagon! It gets a bajillion miles to the gallon, burns clean, hauls a shit load of stuff, is offered with a manual if you're so inclined, and it's FUN TO DRIVE!

I don't get the Prius thing at all. If you have to be stuck in a car for 100 miles a day, be stuck in something that's likeable! If you actually LIKE the Prius, then I take it all back.

There are better alternatives. Don't buy a Prius. Ever.

Im not a fan of the bmw i3 either. I appreciate the i8 for the tech and carbon engineering, but I would get a 911 for that price and performance.

I question doing it for the money. According to this site, driving http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find....35556&id=35502, driving 15,000 miles per year (45% highway, 55% city) you will save $400 a year compared to the Corolla Eco. So double it, drive 30k miles and you are saving $800 a year. Won't the Corolla be at least $6k cheaper so it will take you 7.5 years to break even, driving 30k miles a year and you will then have 225k miles on both cars? I would guess the cheaper Corolla also costs less to insure and guessing from 100k to 225k cheaper to maintain and repair.

Just wonder if the financial side makes sense or you really have to just want to not buy as much fuel.

If you want a vehicle that gets good fuel mileage, buy a light-weight, lower-power vehicle.

crx's from late 80's get 40+ mpg.

I like i3 and i8 because they are different and not boring looking as all other BMWs. As for BEV cars I don't believe, HEV and PHEV are a transition to FCEV. Good BMW joined Toyota for these future developments.

The purchase was more on the financial side (to me) of having a low monthly and paying less for gas as frequently as using the E90. The amount of money I put in for gas a month was about $210-250 a month since it was my daily driver and weekend cruise car. At least the prius covers a majority of monthly gas expenses. Driving 40k miles on my E90 last year alone is no bueno.

Then I can slowly mod the prius to somewhere along these lines. I grew up in Japan so I've always been influenced by the Japan scene prius, not the stateside prius look, those are ugly.

I'm just going to throw this out there but unless your 40k miles are in stop and go traffic in the city don't get one. Cost benefit analysis on a prius basically makes them exclusively the realm of taxis. Who never leave the city. Hybrid technology only works if you are braking the car alot. For highway cruising i bet my 2 series gets better mileage. And considering you will burn through the warranty in 2 years, hybrids are super expensive to repair.

Any other econobox is better for highway driving. A ford fiesta would probably do you much better than a prius... And its a pretty nice little car.
