2012 128I Crank, No Start Fuse 11 Issue
Short version. initially FRM module fried when 1st got the car, in attempt to figure out, Pulled some fuses. put them back where I 'Thought" they went and had a crank, no start.
FRM got reflashed. somehow, I dont remember how, but looking at different pics, got car to start. drove fine. even took on 11hour drive. During this time, had ABS/ DCT lights. parked car--checked fuses. same thing, but forgot to take a pic of what fuse box looked like beforehand. If fuse 11 is not installed--Car starts but idles rough. if fuse 11 is installed, I get a crank no start ISTA shows Fuse 11 should be connected to MAF/Map sensor and several other sensors. so there is some combination of fuses installed/ not installed that's causing the crank no start or start and rough idle some pics Ive seen of similar fuse boxes don't have fuse 11 installed. fuse diagram shows 11 as being engine related. anyone got ideas? |

When you have a bad Mass Air Flow sensor, you can get a car to run on it's base default program by unplugging it, (not using MAF data). If a car runs better without the MAF, you have a bad MAF. Pulling the fuse is bypassing the MAF. Clean or replace the MAF. Just a couch mechanic here.
