Had my final round of CPO work done as my warranty expires in a few weeks.
They replaced the oil filter housing gasket which was barely starting to sweat. I also discovered the shift selector shaft seal was leaking (ironically I had just finished the same job on my e36 trans). The tech tested my a/c and replaced my evaporator which was an unexpected surprise! Overall, the CPO warranty paid for itself in parts between this round of work and the coils and plugs several months ago. I finally put my motiv power bleeder to use and swapped out the CDV and did a full flush. Overall I'm happy with the swap after 50 or so miles. The pedal feel is more linear and I can actually feel the friction as it the clutch bites. Also gone is the need to really feather 1-2 shifts and the need to rev into gear on up shifts. For the cost and ease, throw this one on the "should have done this months ago" pile. A couple shots of the work: Original CDV - New CDV, huge difference - Last edited by E91WAG3N; 04-08-2017 at 08:18 PM.. |

The part numbers for the headlights are 63117181289 and 63117181290. I got them for about $900 for the pair from Schmied's. Really happy with them since I finally had them installed. It's really nice to have xenons at night again and they really transform the front of the car.

With the weather starting to warm up, I'm slowly knocking out some smaller jobs in the evenings.
My goal for the car is to have a solid daily driver that drives and looks decent. I like to mix and match the best OE parts available whenever possible. I realize poly bushings and mounts can be purchased but I'd like to keep the car crisp and tight without rattling the interior apart. With that said, this week I swapped in e46 M3 trans mounts. The stock mounts were not noticeably worn but I'd used them in a previous build and wanted to give them a try in my e82. New mounts with part number Supporting the trans Cross mount removed New mount on the right Once I had the cross brace out, I pulled off the stock mounts. They had some flex when squeezing down on them whereas the e46 mounts did not. Glad my efforts were not wasted since was a difference between the two! I slapped everything back together and took the car out for a spin. It's been a couple days since I put them on and the shifter feels a bit tighter and the shift rod sinks into gear a little easier. For under $50 bucks and under an hour of my time, I'm happy with the result. Combined with the CDV delete and fresh fluids, the car shifts smooth and feels more precise. |

I had one in an old e36 for a while and wasn't a fan, perhaps I'll give it a try again.
Nothing since the last update other than enjoying more miles on the odometer unless you count an oil change and new airbox filter. I've been spending my free time on some house renovations lately. Next up for the e82 will be tires (perhaps wheels, still undecided), M3 RSFB and control arms. My rear tires have another 6 months or so of life left in them. I do need to take some proper pictures with the face lift though! |

I went for a drive this afternoon to the Mountain Springs summit just outside of the valley.
Not the greatest of pics but I took a few nevertheless - Since the last update, I've added a (replica) Performance Spoiler and am inching closer to 70k miles. This winter I'll be tackling the RFSBs and control arms and am strongly considering new wheels. The temps here are a bit unusual as it gets really hot in the summer and hits below freezing in the winter. My current thought is to run two sets of wheels, with my 261's serving cold weather duty with all seasons, and to get an additional set to run non-runflats in the warmer 8-9 months of the year. 216's are at the top of the list, keeping with my OEM theme, yet being they are still a bit uncommon. Finally, I'm growing tired of looking at the wood trim in the cabin. Having converted the shiftier surround and ashtray slot to the flat black 1M pieces, I nearly pulled the trigger on Glacier Silver door pull and dash pieces. I've reconsidered and am passively on the lookout for the Piano Black pieces. |

At a tick under 71,000 miles, it's time to say goodbye to the 1er. I've been passively hunting for an e91 for several years and a deal came together after a couple months of discussion with the seller. It's in nearly identical spec to this car, even down to the color: 6MT M Sport in Black Sapphire on Black.
Unfortunately for the e82, my two car garage will be home to the e91 and my e36. I can't let myself leave this car outside to freeze in the winter and burn in the summer, it's time to let someone else enjoy it. I will be listing it for sale in the coming weeks, having generated some interest with a feeler post last month. Most likely I will be removing the exhaust and lighting to make for a quicker sale. I would love for it to go to another enthusiast, please message me if you're interested. I absolutely love this car, but letting go of it will allow me to finally spend more time working on my e36 which has been without a motor since 2015 and has great personal meaning to me. |

Sad to see you go, but I can understand the dilemma of too many cars and not enough space, or of trying to divide precious resources (i.e., time and money) between too many projects. It’s hard to argue against the practicality of an E91, and I think a 6MT example actually sounds like a lot of fun - maybe the ultimate do-everything family car. Certainly it probably makes a lot more sense to have a car like that in the mix rather than just the E36 & E82. Anyway, GLWS!

It's been a tough decision but I've become more open to letting the 1er go. The main issue is parking at my house with my e82 and e36 in the garage and my wife's Jetta in the driveway. Our community bans overnight street parking which makes having 4 cars tough with our relatives frequently vistiting, often overnight. Looking forward on the e36, I want to s54 swap it and need a space to park a donor car for a month or two. This reshuffle puts me a little closer to that goal. I've always been enamoured with tourings for no particular reason. SUV's have zero appeal to me and wagons have always had a very Euro vibe, so it works for me. I pondered ordering one new when they were in production and came really close to buying an e39 525i several years ago. I also attempted to buy the infamous (on e90post wagon thread) e91 Alpine on Saddle M Sport from Beverly Hills BMW and missed out. Then I considered picking up a pre-LCI and doing an front end conversion but appropriately came to the realization that I don't need two major project cars. So I limited my search to LCI M Sports. I wasn't willing to compromise on RWD, 3rd pedal, xenon, and a 1 hump no nav dash. The right car came along and it just kind of happened. I will see how things are with both cars in the interim, but parting with the e82 is the most sensible thing to do. As long as my wife gets to pick her lease every three years I have the run of the rest of the fleet. An e91 does make a ton more sense for the occasional Saturday nice weather trip out with our toddler and infant as well as the occasional Home Depot and IKEA run. I think I've always held back a bit on modding the 1er knowing I'd buy the correctly spec'ed e91 if it came along. I will do a bit more to the e91, it already has a couple suspension mods and a 3IM. And I've already bought an arrival parts refresh package for it. Hopefully when we have a house with 3 or 4(!) garage slots I'll be back in an e82 again. Depending on finances, I'd like to add 128i, 1M, or 993 to the mix, all of which were made in greater numbers than 6 speed e91's. We can all dream, right! Nothing currently being produced or on the horizon interests me at all. Last edited by E91WAG3N; 12-25-2017 at 05:11 PM.. |

Change of plans for now, looks like I'm keeping the 1er.
I had it listed as a feeler at $15,900 in November/December-ish and had quite a bit of interest. I removed a lot of the mods (headlights, tail lights, exhaust) as most people didn't want to pay extra for them. It's been up at $13,750 for since January and is still in my driveway. I've sold a dozen or so cars privately over the years and have never had so much interest in a car without someone turning up to look at it. I keep getting these long winded emails about how they like the car and it's what they want etc... but no follow through. I did have a deposit from someone out of state, but it fell through. Is my price unrealistic? I have it priced pretty much at my bottom line of what I think the car is worth. If I can't sell it for close to $14k, I feel like it's worth keeping to split nice weather mileage with my E91. The twins! - E82 and E91 |

Nice looking pair. As I think you know, I thought your car was a great car at a very good price. Maybe with spring starting here in the frozen North, maybe they'll be some more interest. Good luck and Good driving. CCA 408014

A manual from a member here indeed. I was holding out for one in a lighter color but this one ticked all my boxes (RWD + 6MT + M Sport + no iDrive). I started a build thread over on e90post - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1453866 |

another wagon/128 combo
I fear the day I try to sell the 128. I wave way too much in it but its so fun and still need to put another $3k into it, I am ditching the 135 front brakes and doing F30 340mm fronts with ecs rotors along with the LSD.......Then it will be done. As far as selling yours they will be under appreciated for what they are. they will walk a frs all day long and are more capable than most cars. If you were to sell I would return it to stock and sell all the mods separately. Or keep it for as long as you can. I will have my other really fast 1er together this year for the super fast stuff but our cars are drivers cars not HP queens.

I haven't seriously considered selling my 1er, but I have wondered how it might go if I tried. I'm worried I would get a bunch of tire-kickers and low-ballers, trying to talk me down because "it's not even a 135i." Honestly, I think the only way I would willingly do it is if I could get the car listed on BaT, because at least there it would have a chance, lol.
