Spoiler update - its fixed!!

I managed to get it off with nothing more than brute force and took it over to the lad who did all the paintwork on the MINI helped me put it back on using what remained of the tape and some tiger seal.

Looks 100 times better than it did before and only cost me £10 to keep him sweet!

I got the Bilstein B12 kit fitted on Wednesday

This is the new ride height, but I'm expecting it to settle a little lower over the next week or so

Initial impressions are great, the ride is much better now, and it feels stiffer in the corners too!

Also, the BMW Performance bumper is getting fitted on Tuesday.

Other plans at present are:

* Mirror caps painted "Ferric Grey"
* Fit stubby aerial of some description
* Rear diffusor painted gloss black
* Fit OZ NOVA wheels
* Fit 1M xenons (currently only have a passenger side)
* Front bumper lip spoiler (Kerscher)
* Find a pair of Alcantara seats from a crashed F21 (long wait ahead!!)

OK, quite a major update today....

I got the BMWP front bumper fitted - a total game changer for the front end IMHO

I got the PDC holes smoothed out in the end and also the xenon washer jet holes cut out for a total of £140, the job is perfect so I'm a happy guy!!

I also opted to have the ducts and lower grilles painted gloss black too instead of the stock matte plastic finish which works well with the white I feel.

Here are some decent DSLR shots (the first I've actually taken of this car!!!):

I also shot a couple of pics of the brakes and new ride height (it is lower at the rear, but the camber on that road had it sitting weird!)

Sadly I had to put a numberplate back on, so I opted for a shortened height plate, but still using UK road legal lettering, looks much better than the old gigantic thing I had on the M Sport front end...

No decent pics apart from this crappy iPhone shot..

OK - another quick update on the car.

I took it for a full alignment on a hunter laser system on Monday, the rear toe was all over the place after the Bilsteins had been fitted, so now the handling is even sharper and best of all, the yellow ring on the BMWP s/w is back in the dead ahead position instead of being off the one side.

Then a bit of bad news - unsurprisingly the cheap paint job on the Performance bumper has turned out to be shit!! It's got paint flaking off and two huge stone chips already I used this body shop as it came highly recommended to me, and was half the price of all the other quotes but safe to say I wont be going back!!

My normal paint guy reckons he can fix it for me and it needs flatting back a full polish and 2 more coats of clear coat applying, so that will be sorted one day next week

Ending on some good news at least.... my new tyres will be here tomorrow. UniRoyal RainSport 2's in 225/40 18 (had them before on my JCW MINI and they were awesome) which will mean the OZ's can go on!

Should be fitted Friday or Saturday depending on getting a spot at the tyre depot down the road.

Pics to follow of course

Looks great!

I'm jealous of the hatchback. They never brought it to the states.

I'd kill for a 4-door hatchback 1er with either the N54 or the I6 turbo diesel, especially.

Small update:

The bumper is been repainted today and I'll be collecting it tomorrow

I've also taken the opportunity to have the mirror covers painted 'Ferric Grey' which is the same colour as the wheels (pictures to follow)

Also another mod is in the pipeline in 3 weeks time, will be an LED swap and needle change (1M and M3 style).... kindly being done by a member on babybmw

The stock gauge looks like this:

Pictures as promised:

Plate will be put on again once I get some more number plate tape.

Thoughts on the mirrors? I was inspired by the M135i which has them that colour as stock.

Another update...

This happened to 3 of my wheels

Blatantly the wheels had been repaired (badly!!) prior to me collecting the car.

Several phone calls to the supplying dealer (350 miles away from Newcastle) ensured that a goodwill repair was agreed.

The car went off to the local Lloyd's body shop and a full refurb was carried out (tyres off, wheels dipped / blasted, powder-coated and lacquered)..... all free of charge

Must be £400 worth of work for nowt!!

It also meant I was able to get my tyres changed on the rear - got some 5mm Dunlops off eBay for a mere £80 - should keep me going until after the Winter, when I will remove the Runflats and go for normal tyres

A slightly better picture..

Also, tried my £100 e-Bay bargain 1M xenon to see if it works (it does!) but just need to figure out the work involved now to get the eyebrow to light up....

OK, another small(ish) update:

A member on babybmw has fitted a M3 rear axle to his 135i, so I'm buying some bits from him so I can get my 135i rear brakes onto the car.

Parts I'm having are:

2 x Rear hubs
2 x Brembo rear calipers (spares that will be sold, since I have a pair of brand new calipers already)
2 x Handbrake shoes
2 x Backing plates
1 x Eibach RARB (be interesting to see the difference)

OK another update...

The deal on the 135i rear axle parts has not gone as intended as the guy cant separate the rear driveshafts (they are seized) from the parts I need without causing damage. So sadly its back to the drawing board on that one...

Anyway on the bright side I will be sinking the cash I had to one side for those parts into another xenon light - I have FINALLY found a drivers side 1M xenon and I will be ordering it from Germany on Monday

The plan will then be to sell my stock Xenons on eBay and buy some E92 M3 suspension parts to tighten the handling up even more.

The list is as follows:

M3 front lower control arms (x 1 pair)

Xenon light regulator rod from the M3 (x 1 only)

M3 front tension struts (x 1 pair)

M3 rear upper wishbone arms (x 1 pair)

M3 rear upper guide links (x 1 pair)

M3 ABS brackets (x 1 pair)

The beauty of the above items (as I'm sure that most of us already know!!) is that TRW, who are the original manufactures for ///M division, actually sell them themselves as TRW branded "OE spec" items (literally they are the same parts but with with the actual ///M logo ground off) for 1/2 the price of the main dealers!!

The front items add 0.75 deg of neg camber to the set up and widen the track of the front wheels by a further 10 - 12mm (ish)

Update: I now have a pair of 1M xenons....

This one has come all the way from Lithuania (its 100% a UK RHD lamp, so no idea what it was doing over there?!)

£340 including delivery and complete with a fully working bulb and ballast:

Which means that when combined with my other utter eBay bargain xenon I have FINALLY assembled a pair for a mere £450

OK, another quick update...

My GF's Dad gave me a hand to remove the bumper so I could crack on with changing the lights over - which turned into a total PITA since it was raining!!

As you can see, a simple headlight change is not quite so simple due to BMW's design!!!

The end result is that the 1M lights are in, the bulbs and ballasts are swapped over, and I just need to find an auto-electrician to tap the LED eyebrows into the side lights for me....

Its been a long time since I updated…

The splitter doesn't fit, so might have to revisit that at a later date to try and make it fit! ha

Nothing much else has happened with the car to be honest, but today I collected some more audio.

Harman / Kardon Logic 7 under seat woofers. Although they are not very exciting to look at, they pack a punch!

I got them fitted this evening, which involved removing the seats to gain access (only 4 bolts), they are powered by my OEM Alpine upgrade, which isn't quite powerful as the OEM L7 amp, but they are more than powerful enough for now!

Quick shot to show the difference between the enclosures (L7 on the left):

Another update.

I have bought some folding mirrors to retrofit to the car, and once fitted they will be coded to auto-fold from the key fob's lock button.

I have also got my eye out for a cruise control slip ring, so I can retro-fit cruise to the car. Thus is on the agenda since I got caught by the BIB again!!! Thankfully though its just a speed awareness course this time!

Finally, I also have a used complete interior trim set on the way to me - I'm undecided on what colour to get it re-done in.

Probably gloss black for the trims around the gear knob / ashtray cover and I'm thinking I will then get the central trim piece wrapped in alcantara to match the BMWP steering wheel / gaiters and door handles?

The other option is to get it all done in Alpine White to match the car.

Match the trim with the paint. Gloss black would be too unpractical imho, gets scratched very easily.

Car looks killer, the Perf. front is awesome in white! But all those not so cheap mods and yet it is a 116d?
