I am 110% sure that was an E92. No stock E46 ever broke a number like that.

My Ground Control/Koni DA setup was great for the track/autocross, but I found the linear (as opposed to progressive) rate springs too much for harsh New Mexico roads.

I'd highly recommend FK Silverline+.. Just to throw out another good stiff suspension that is still drivable on crappy roads.

At altitude a 335 or 135 is faster than a new m3.

I look forward to telling this to a new m3 owner at the bar here in denver.

whoahahahaha.

sorry pal, news flash ground control offers "adjustable setup" on all of their kits. A little know how and some time, will produce performance and comfort. Stiff is for track days

i agree, you will always have some trade off. to mee the gain in performance is just to much pass up.

plus i can still overtake most production 911's in a sweeper while drinking a cup of coffee not to bad for a 4 door that weighs i @ alomst 3 thousand pounds

Yes, and the M3 CSL (E46) is nearly a second faster than the E90 M3. I'm sure the 135i runflats slowed it down.

Are the run flats really that bad? I can see the extra weight disadvantage, but is having stiff sidewalls that big of a deal?

Also, will BMW assist tow you for free if you replace the runflats with regular tires and blow one?

If you look at the Hokenheim list and only take the Autosport time for a better comparison:

M3 CSL 1:13.5
M3 E92 1:14.3
M6 1:14.4
Alpina B3 1:15.8
M5 1:16.5
M3 E46 1:16.3
Z4M 1:16.7
645Ci 1:16.8
Z3M 1:17.2
M3 E36 1:17.2
Z8 1:17.4
135i 1:17.4
335 coupe 1:17.8
Z4 3.0 1:17.8
130i 1:19.2

List looks pretty acceptable to me.:iono:

Don't forget the M3 are available in sequential trans which can cut some time on a roadcourse.
