130i Hatch Hill Climb

I really wish they would have brought the 130i or 135i hatch to the US. I'd probably have one instead of my coupe.

Here is a blog post & video of a modified 130i at the St. Ursanne hill climb. This car certainly looks the business.

While I do like the hatchback, I, personally, think the coupe is more handsome.

Yeah, you can get more stuff in the hatchback, but I think our trunk is big enough. Especially with the back seats down.

Love the 5 door. Wish they would have brought it to the US.

There's a guy on IG I follow with this beast.

The video in that link doesn't sound quite like an S54 like the article suggested, it sounds a little like what I think a HEAVILY worked-over N52 would sound like...

I think the Judd V8 1'er is even more insano, though, but that six cylinder just sounds so classy!

EDIT: I just watched the video...again...I couldn't stop giggling from all the race car sounds...

These cars make the Focus RS and Civic Type-R look like diesel Golfs in terms of hot hatch-ness...

That hill climb 130 definitely has either the S50, S52 or S54 engine.

I doubt that N52 can be modified, even with ITBs to delivery more than 310-ish tops. Maybe the internals and head are from the S engines? But would be much easier to swap the engine and meet the class specs.

Which is also why you do not see much E82s in racing, class specifications wise it is too heavy (here in Germany) and without any engine mods the 125i/128i is seriously down on power when compared to the competition. Once you enter a higher NA class, the M3s comes into play. Remember how the E46 M3 had at the time the high hp per liter engine.

Anyways, that is the reason why i just do not want to switch to turbo engines, despite their silly efficiency and on the road performance, bouncing rpms at 4K+ and always making power till redline just works so well on the track.

I never likes the rear of the E8x hatchback in Europe, my cousin got one and she said how it was bigger than the Golf at the time, which was false since the golf had a slighter bigger trunk/boot.

A couple of months ago, i was also looking into swapping the E82 to the E8x hatchback, just because i got tired of not finding a tuner who can give me a nice tune for the 125i, thought going 130i and forget about the engine.

That is, till i found a tuner who did just that ^^
