You asked for it, here it is! SleK Designs Carbon Fiber Front Lip Teaser!
GROUP BUY HAS BEEN STARTED: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=605551
My car has been at Slek's facility for about a week as they design a front lip for the 135i community after they received such an overwhelming response asking them to make one for us. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=571011&page=5 Here are some pictures of the lip being designed. This is just a basic laying of the fiberglass. They still need to shape it in place with the lip size. After they make this lip it will then be sent over to have a mold created and then it will be available for purchase! I have seen the 1M front lip in person on 2 different occasions and I will tell you that is it the highest quality Carbon Fiber that I have seen in person for our cars. I currently have an iCarbon diffuser and several other Carbon Fiber parts from various companies and the quality of the 1M front lip just blows away all of them. The final design of the lip will be finished this Sunday so if you have any kind of constructive criticism, post it before then and I will email this thread to SleK. This is their 1M front lip which this one is being designed off of. 9/20/11 Update The lip is 80% complete now. Still needs alot of sanding and shaping but you can see the transformation so far. 9/24 Update: The lip is now 95% complete. Still a little rounding to do. Fitment is good and they are working to make it perfect. 10/5/11 Update: SleK has listened to feedback and they have made the lip more "blade" like. Here are the updated pictures. The lip also went into molding yesterday. Estimated Group Buy Pricing: Possible pricing information: MSRP will be $949+ Group Buy Prices: 10-$892 15-$845 20-$791 These are not official yet, but very close. 1. goeslikeschnell 2. djpeetur 3. Sorry, it will not be near that price. Look at iCarbon they sold like hotcakes all day long for 750-900 and they were made in China. Higher quality = higher price. If you do not want your Carbon Fiber to start yellowing and becoming dull after 2 years or have an inconsistent and messy weave pattern then you have to pay to play.
This will not be near 500 but it will be lower priced than the 1M lip. SleK will try their best to make it as close to iCarbon prices as they can but it will all depend on the first lip made and we should know around then about the exact price. Last edited by cooler2442; 09-16-2011 at 10:51 PM.. |

Looks pretty good. I'd probably get one if I didn't already have the iCarbon. I don't like the way the passenger side has the notch at the end near the tire. I'd rather see it taper back or be rounded off.

I think it will be rounded off like the 1M one but I will bring it up with SleK to make sure. Since this is just a prototype for the fiberglass fitting.

Nope, it will be CF only for now. SleK has said it will be very durable. Harold at HP Autowerks put his weight on the 1M front lip where the front of the car shifted and nothing happened. So it will be durable but you should still take it slow over bumps and dips.

Yup, the designer that works for SleK designs parts for 100k+ cars as well. He is extremely good. Wait until you see what else they have in store.
