BMS DCI Power Loss
I put a bms dci in my 135i. Since I put it in ive noticed my pedal response is not as good and the car overall does not feel as fast. Is this common with the dci?

Yes if you are completely stock with nothing else done to it. It's only helpful when running higher than normal boost.

As long as you put the couplers in properly there is no performance or torque loss even at the stock boost levels. It's all in your head.

Whats the proper way to put the couplers in? I didn't know there was a trick to it. I hope mine are in correctly.

As far as this whole power loss bit with this intake, I know its all bullshit, I think really its due to so many reading it on the forums that they expect it to happen, like the other guy said, "placebo" effect. I installed my bms intakes at the same time that I installed my HPF intercooler as well and I felt a pretty noticeable boost in lower end torque. I have no tune thus far so there is no added boost installed with this yet. I truly believe that this intake is NOT just for those who load on the extra boost. This engine needs to breath regardless of its lower boost with 2 turbos, the more air and free-flowing ability the better the turbo's will perform and more efficiently as well. I also agree bout the "try it on a cool night" bit, my car like I said has no tune still and it goes nuts below 80 now, I barely ever get close to WOT either. |

Not to sound argumentative here, but I have to agree with OP. I just installed my BMS DCI 2 days ago and I have to say that I too feel a drop in torque. No tune and no other engine mods. Are we positive that there are no negative effects with these things.
....and just for clarity... I'm positive that I installed these babies exactly as instructed in the DIY (on this forum, and the one that came with the units). I inserted the tubes only about 1/2 an inch to leave clearance for the velocity stack, and inserted the cones as deep in the intake lines as I possibly could. The collars are also choked down as much as possible. Anyway, thoughts? Pictures of install:
