Ok Day/Night at the Track
The weather was very nice (71F, sunny), but not really that excited about my driving performance Really can't blame the car, but did have to constantly drive through the water they keep spraying across the burn-out pit. I really need to get better at 60' times...Ran on 93 octane with a little less than 1/2 tank of gas.
Best run: R/T: .166 60': 2.203 330: 5.606 1/8: 8.537 MPH: 85.33 1000: 10.890 1/4 ET: 13.056 1/4 MPH: 106.09\ Other 1/4 mile times...1st run 13.192, 2nd run 13.103 Last edited by Luvmybmw; 05-13-2009 at 07:40 AM.. Reason: Add other times |

Your 330' times are decent but yea, you need to get a few tenths closer to 2 seconds to show the real power of your ride. I'd also adjust your shift points. You should be deep into 4th gear by the time you hit the 1/4 mile mark. Shift before 6000 rpm to keep her in the power band. If the Dinan tune is anything like the stock tune, the JB3, Vinshu, etc, you'll see a pretty hard right turn on the torque curve at about 5500 rpm. Above that point you'll only continue to make peak horsepower +/- 15hp for another 500rpm or so. It drops off very quickly on the top end. The N54 is not a rev-happy engine that rewards you for winding it out to the limiter. Adjust your shift points and even with a shitty launch and 60' times you'll trap 4-10 mph higher. Last Saturday night I ran 12.6 at 112mph, down from my best time of 12.32@112mph because like you, I'm spinning too much on the launch with a 2.1 second 60' but still pretty damn quick overall. You should be able to see that kinda time with the proper technique. My best trap ever was around 116mph and you should be able to hit similar numbers with your tune.

Your trap is quite low.
With DS2 you should be trapping 112 or better. My bone stock car traps 107. Get that 60' down (although honestly 2.2 isn't horrendous, its just not great) and work on your shift points. If you have access to a datalogger, check your LongGs after each run. Highest average LongGs over a run will get the best times. If you notice that your average LongGs over a run where you drove a particular way were high, try sticking to that method. I need to find a new place to run, I miss actually going fast without risk of arrest or vehicular manslaughter =/ |
