I finally have the BMW PE installed with my Supersprint Y pipe. It's a bit loud first off! There is some drone when getting on it in the 2.5k-3.5k range but it can be kept tame. At highway speeds for instance, you will get minor drone on throttle, otherwise it's like before. At the high RPMs it really sounds amazing, and the car just pulls through the RPMs. Can't wait to get an external video. Will keep ya'll updated.

I think overall it sounds very exotic and almost Italian (Ferrari, Maserati, Lambo) in its overall sound. We will see if the volume gets on my nerves over time, but the sound itself is just what I wanted, maybe dialed back on the volume a tad lol.
How are you liking the setup? Just got the same thing completed on my car.

Just installed AA headers on the car three weeks ago and I love the sound. After 5k RPM it really opens up and sounds like a howling banshee and at certain RPM's when I lift off the throttle, the backfires can be loud as gunshots, but there is some rasp. The worst part is the rasp on deceleration and throttle lift off between 4k-5k rpm. It sounds terrible and I find it somewhat embarrassing to hear that rasp on no throttle.

MarkkyyMan I saw you had this set up, are you experiencing the same rasp I am? It's bad enough that I'm considering ditching the PE that I used to love so much (and unfortunately the loud pops and burbles along with it).

Do you have your secondary cats and the resonator in place?

I chose to swap out my PE because of the noise levels and rasp after installing the headers and went with a 135i muffler as suggested by some. If I were to do it again though, I'd want to try a more custom solution. It's a bit too tame for my liking and I miss the burbles and pops.

Everything else on the car is stock. I figured as such though. If it means no rasp, then I'm likely gonna be parting ways with the PE. I only have the means to change out a muffler right now though. What's a good pair for the AA headers? I saw wise eisenmann makes a muffler that produces a nice note with the headers. But I might also use this chance to get a lighter muffler as well.

The main issue is, is that with PE, or any aftermarket muffler company, they are tuning their products off OE Headers (And cats).

Once you remove these items, there are frequencies introduced that the muffler was not meant to tune out, which gives you unwanted noise.

Probably gonna have to go with something custom then, huh? Spoke with AA about it. They said the AR20 resonator is what most of the e46 M3 guys go with to get rid of the inline 6 rasp. For $50, it might not hurt to try it out.

Where are you located in PA? I have a 135i exhaust you can have if you'd like.

That's alright man, I appreciate the offer. I think I'm gonna stick with the PE for now. I'll look at different mufflers if the resonators don't work out as well as I want them to.

How long have you had the PE? My PE was really loud at first, but after 500-1000 miles it got noticeably quieter.

Where will the placement be? As it needs to catch the sound wave.

Update on Exhaust

Little clip or you all. This is a residential neighborhood so I was only shifting at maybe 5K. Enjoy

Has that nice classic inline 6 BMW noise....do you find it drones inside at any point? Also, how do you like it vs the same setup but with the 135i muffler you had before? I listened to your other clip of that combo, was static/free revs so hard to compare, but they were relatively similar?

It did have a little drone on the highway at first, but after 500-1000 miles or so it's non-existent.

After hearing this clip myself, I think it sounds better than the 135i muffler I had.

AA headers and PE exhaust through the holland tunnel in all its raspy glory. Shitty compressed snapchat video but it'll have to do until I can get a proper exhaust clip up.
