Has anyone installed the BMW Performance Part gear knob?

I have the knob but no instruction. Is it just a case of pulling off the M gear knob and putting these on, or are there clips and things. I am too afraid to pull it!

It's easy. Look in the DIY section on changing knobs as the performance one is the same.

Most of them just pull off. Pull straight up, but move your face away or you'll punch youself in the chin.

I installed the BMW SSK, and when removing the M knob, I found it was attached to the shift boot with some small metals tabs/clips. I unclipped the boot, then just pulled up on the knob - it came straight off along with the boot still attached to it. Then to re-install, I just installed the alcantara boot, and pushed on the performance knob - bobs your uncle.

Some say it's easier to put the knob into second gear and then pull straight up. Mine took a lot of force to remove. I almost hit the roof when it finally came off.

Does the standard silver/black toned knob just pull off as is?

The stock boot doesn't work with the weighted knob :| Unless you are supposed to break the retaining ring which allows it to mate with the original knob... !
