Öhlins R&T 1-series specific new kit

Öhlins now have a Road & Track setup for the 1-series.
BMS MI01.
Anyone ordered already. Noticeably at first look... stiffer springs
70 Nm front and 120 Nm rear

Interesting. That's pretty close to what many of us would up going with for Swift springs. I wonder if they went to shorter springs too?

The new Ohlins kit compares as follows to their other kits:

New 1-Series Kit / 1M Kit / 3-Series Kit / Typical Swift modified 3-Series Kit (me)

Front Rate (N/mm): 70 / 60 / 60 / 60
Front Length (mm): 180 / 200 / 200 / 178
Rear Rate (N/mm): 120 / 110 / 70 / 140
Rear Length (mm): 230 est / 250 / 250 / 228
Rear Aduster Height (mm): 50 / 37 / 62 / 50

It looks like Ohlins has not strayed from what has been shown to work on the 1-Series. Their new 1-Series kit should work just fine out of the box. In particular their choice of a 180 mm long front spring should solve the tire clearance issue that required us to go to 178 mm (7") long Swift springs when starting from the 3-Series kit.

You mean 60N/mm / 70N/mm weren't good spring rates?

I basically have that same setup & got it from Harold at HPA. The car rides perfect & handles so much better than stock. How it should have come if BMW cared about suspension.

Very cool to see Ohlins continue developing the kits for an older chassis.

For those who have them, can you reach the front adjuster without jacking up the car?

Yes, easily. Turn the wheel and you can reach it from the side easily.

You turn the wheel? I can just reach in from under the front bumper and do it. spidertri

This is almost exactly what I ended-up with. The rear springs are softer (120N/mm vs my 160N/mm) and the rear adjusters seem better thought-out. I wonder how the valving compares with these vs the 1M kit (I have 1M valving). I might have to get the shorter rear adjusters in the future, if they're beneficial or of a better design.

Yep. Turn to the right to adjust the drivers side, left for passenger side & then it's right there.

The rear adjusters are poked up through holes in the rear trunk liner.

It's on Ohlins' website, but there's no picture yet, and I haven't seen any for sale just yet. Must've JUST come out.

UK Dealers are still recomending BMS MI00 for the E82, I've mailed them back with details of the new kit. Waiting on a response.

Have also mailed Ohlins HQ in Sweden.

Ohlins forwarded my query to a UK dealer. The kit won't be available in the UK for around 6 weeks.

Can anyone confirm these are revalved to work with the higher Spring rates? I would assume so, but assuming something to be true has bitten me more than once!

Öhlins with their reputation would never release a product on the market without proper function/testing

Right.....neither would Boeing.

Do you actually KNOW they've been appropriately revalved?

Perhaps instead of guessing and sniping at one another, one of you could e-mail ohlins and ask?

https://www.ohlins.com/contact/contact-us/

Do post up the reply when you get it.

First response,

Thanks for the email.

I was out for extended holidays and am just getting up to speed on this kit. I have asked my Colleagues in Sweden for a full list of what was updated, and when we can have the new here on our shelves to ship.

I should have some info for you in the next day or so.

Here's hoping for more!
