How to Reset Service Intervals?
I tried searching this DIY forum but I could not find any thread on how to reset service intervals.
I recently replaced my front and rear brakes pads and installed new brake pad wear sensors. My 2009 BMW 135i in the message center still says less than 1000 miles and to schedule service. My 1 does not have iDrive. I know that you put the "key"/fob into the dash and press the start button without my foot on the brake pedal. The dash electronics does its thing and when the time & temp display in the message center you press and hold the trip reset little button in the lower left of the cluster until the yellow triangle with "!" in it disappears and displays the "Service Info" icons. Using the BC button and the UP-DOWN slider button on the stalk to switch to the front and rear brake icons, I press the BC button and I see the Reset message in the message center. I press the BC button again but it does not seem to reset the service interval. Is there something else I need to do? |

Any luck? I have been trying too with only limited success. Can't reset the oil as the reset light comes on but there is a box with a check in it and nothing else happens by holding in the bc button.

Does anyone know if there is something I can buy for our 135's that plugs into the port to see/clear codes and has a better interface to reset service intervals? |

I know, so I don't reset oil -- just brakes. I don't like the stock brake pads, they produce way too much dust for me and get all over my wheels. Every session knocks 1000 to 1500 miles off the service interval for brakes. I don't need the car telling me I'm out of brakes when clearly I'm not.

This thread isn't for anyone's opinion on whether one should or shouldn't; it is how to in case anyone would want to or have need to.
If you are not understanding the reasoning for the thread and why I asked then you are not putting 2 & 2 together... |

Your service indicator adjusts overtime calculating your usage, and how hard you are using it with incorporating the pad thickness. It is not instant.
But whatever. You are right I shall not care for a stranger. DICF.
