Help Needed: Shifter boot rattle
So when I'm stopped at a light the shifter boot rattles against the base of the centre console when in neutral.
I've popped the base out of the console to see if any clips were broken causing it to be loose. Nothing. All clips are intact but for some reason doesn't fit snug in the console. Anyone hear of this or ideas on a fix? I was thinking about using a little piece of foam. I'm desperate, I hate rattles |

I remember having to push mine in pretty good for it to actually sit properly in the console.

When I reinstalled the boot it seemed to have snapped into place pretty firmly but once the tabs were engaged it is able to move forward and back slightly.
I'll have to take another look at it and see if it can be pressed in any more. |

It will still move around a little. That's normal. Are you saying its visibly rattling at idle? What's your shifter doing.

Yes, it is visibly rattling against the console. The shift is moving back and forth slightly at idle in neutral and about 50% of the time the bottom of the boot is rattling against the console.
I'm thinking about using a bit of foam tape to fill in the gap to stop it from making contact. |
