Comfort Access and washing my car...

I washed (and Zaino’ed) my car this weekend for the first time. One weird thing was that when I was somewhat close to the front doors, the car kept locking, unlocking, mirrors folding in and out as the water went over and around the door handles. I bet over the course of washing my car, it locked, unlocked, or the mirrors moved around about ten times. I’ll have to keep my keys far away next time I wash my car. No big deal, but it’s one of those things an engineer can’t foresee and only addressed after some real-world feedback. I still really enjoy having Comfort Access.

I noticed this too. I bugged-out at first, but then realized that it was the comfort access doing its stuff.

Soapy water causing sensor to thing you have your hand on the handle

Shouldnt lock if you put the key in the slot in the dash ( make shure you have spare key around first time you try, just in case )

Actually, I found that when it rains heavily, and I just touch the sensor to close the car, it often automatically folds up the mirrors too. The extra water on the doors does influence the CA.

I also had the doors locking and unlocking when I was washing my car. I found it best to leave the key in the boot (trunk) but I have heard from some poeple that their boot pops open if the key is left in side - Mine doesn't - it just remains openable!

Alternatively, keep the keys with the drying materials while wet washing (as they would obviously be far away enough to stay dry). It's not really a problem when drying.

I just let the doors lock and unlock. Who cares

Something else interesting:
If I put the key in the slot on the dash and start the car, get out, and push the grooves on the handle, the door unlocks. I can then reopen the locked door the normal way by putting my hand on the handle. This got me thinking, surely someone else could open the door if I am in the car with the key in the slot - well - if my weight is on the drivers seat - it doesn't work! I thought that was smart. It lets you open if there is no one in the car, but it won't let you open if there is someone in the car :-)

Some very clever thinking in our cars I suspect.

yep, the slot is still there. It's important for the valet key and in case your battery dies.
