Proper Spark Plugs for N55 with PPK
Searched and could not find an answer to this.
I have a 2013 135i with the PPK2 installed. With the kit, came a new set of spark plugs and just want to make sure they are correct for my engine. The plugs in my car were the single electrode: ZR5TPP33-S original BMW Bosch plugs. Which is normal for the N55. The plugs that came with the kit are the 3 electrode N54 style plugs. Sorry, don't have the plug number anymore, as they are installed in the engine. The BMW part number for the plugs is: 12 12 0 037 244. They are also OEM Bosch plugs. Just looking for confirmation I have the correct ones. Is the N54 style plug for all cars with the PPK installed? What do the 135is have? |

Interesting, never heard that an N55 with PPK was supposed to have a different plug.
How's it running?

This is why I was wondering. Does the PPK2 kit just come with N54 style plugs as an afterthought? Did they just not update the kit for the N55 cars? Should I be using the stock N55 plugs?
Will have to check the online resources and see what the 135is calls for. That is basically what I have. Hmmmm. Tischer shows: Fits 2013 BMW 135is Base Part Number: 12120037582 Which is different that what I have. Sent an email to Tischer (that is where I bought the kit). Will see what they say. Just thought somebody here might know for sure off the top of their head. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 02-17-2015 at 03:29 PM.. |

Well, sent an email to Tischer. They sent me a copy of the install instructions. In the instructions, it says:

Did you make sure you ordered the correct PPK? But if the part numbers are different then they might have sent you one for the N54 then. |

Use the N55 plugs: BOSCH ZR5TPP33S bmw p/n 12120037582
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...12&fg=05&hl=41 ^^The above plugs are also spec'd for the 135iS as well. You don't want to use the N54 plugs on a N55(or vis versa) bc the engine will not run right/smoothly. I think this is one area where BMW has dropped the (parts)ball. Dackel

While my car was here for repairs at our body shop, I replaced the plugs while I was doing the mechanical repairs. (Getting paid to work on my own car LOL!). Have not been able to actually drive it till now. Started it up, runs like a bag of hammers. A lot of stumbling/misfires until it warms up. The proper OE N55 plugs (12120037582) will be here tomorrow morning. At 35k and will be on my third set of plugs already. Also sent an email to Tischer about the issue. Edit: Sorry Dack, I mean OE plugs, not OEM. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 02-17-2015 at 04:07 PM.. |

New OE N55 plugs back in today. Runs PERFECT!!
The three electrode plugs were carboned to hell. Executive Summary: If you buy the PPK for your N55 car, do NOT use the plugs that come with the kit. Give them to someone with an N54. |

I have misfires on my tuned N55, so due for a fresh set, and I have stumbled across conflicting info. There are vendors selling the Bosch ZR5TPP33S and ZR5TPP33 plugs for the N55. What is the difference, and which is one is the right one?

I would recommend just going to the dealer and get the proper plugs from them. |

Now trying to hunt down the silly 12-point 14 mm thin-walled deep socket to install the plugs, which no local auto-parts have in stock ...
