7500 rpm limit! I know this engine has more potential like high revving NA! With some fortifications, I bet someone can achieve 8000 easy if not more!!

How did they tune the car without a dyno? It must just be a generic one-size-fits-all tune huh? Hopefully you can use the GP Tuning in Lux. I posted the contact info in your other thread.

Yes its sorta like a one tune fits all. They have a main ets-power.de that does all the tuning. They do 3 tunes with various octane then they reflash your ECU with the one you use. I got the US 91/EU 95 octane tune. The cool thing is I can go back to him for free if it not feeling right. He said, "if its not feeling like enough power just come back and we can tweak it more."

I'm a little worried about the place in Lux because I don't have an international drivers license. I want to find a dyno in Germany near wittlich, bitburg or trier. The Dyno I posted was done at a car show, which they traveled at least 2 hours to get to spangdahlem. I would have loved to have gotten the dyno done by them.

Did you get an answer to this question?

Not that my wife would likely approve, but since this is a software change does anyone have any idea how getting this done while I was taking ED of the car might effect getting it shipped home?

ED?

Sorry I can't help with the shipping thing. I am stationed in germany so I guess I'm lucky. You should call them and see. The guy I talked to spoke English.

Yes I can ship my ECU back to him at anytime and get it flashed again. I can tell the BMW dealership to not update/reflash my car so I shouldn't have a problem with this. This issue is the same as OETune has as well. All ECS tunes would have this issue. It's not an issue if you just tell them not to reflash the ECU.

You have to turn the car back in with all the same equipment as it came out of the factory (e.g. can't change wheels/tires, etc..), otherwise it will have issues making it through customs. I doubt they would catch something like a ECU flash, but I have no idea.

Good that that is an option, but international mail isn't cheap and your car wouldn't be operable during that time (and god forbid it gets lost or broken in transit ).
The problem with not letting the dealer re-flash is that they like to do that for some troubleshooting and BMW periodically releases updates (my wife's e90 has had it's ECU flashed 3 times IIRC).

So I went to the dyno today and was VERY disappointed. I guess there machine is so old that it doesn't show torque of any kind and no RPMs It did however show me my kW which was 178.1kW. Depending on the converter you use its anywhere from 238-242WHP
I will load the Dyno ASAP

if it is accurate HP I think it is really good. 230HP at crank means 200 rwhp.. and you have 238-242... your gain is good imo.

Well I'm sad I can't get the dyno done by the same guys that did it the first time. They are more than 2 hours away and I really don't want to drive that.

Also, I'm not doing the stupid crank HP conversion anymore. Its a bit crazy and unreliable/inaccurate unless you take the engine out like someone else posted.

242WHP is great to me.

That's a solid improvement, congrats! However it is hard to compare before/after when different dynos are used.

It is probably too much to ask another 128i owner to do a dyno run at the same place

Thankfully, a couple of 0-100 sprint videos will be good enough Simple and universal indication of the power improvement, and easy for another 128i owner to do for comparison.

LOL absolutely. I already got the ladies looking when I added the rims. Now I scare men...let me explain. My exhaust is "quite" when I'm not riding the throttle. I turned the corner the other day and there was a guy walking on the side walk away from me. He was about 100 feet ahead of where I was. I GUNNED it and the engine ROARED. He turned around quicker than you could say titty !@#$. I think he thought someone was about to hit him.

I will try to get videos of various things. I just wish I could get a mount or camera for my bumper. That video of the exhaust note would be sick. Also whats the best way to capture the RPM while I'm driving.

If you have around 240 rear wheel ponies, you're doing very well and that would represent a sizeable improvement - certainly more than a P-Box. No way can you compare results from different dynos, especially different brands and styles. You should have 0-60mph in about 5.4 - 5.6 now.

BMS showed a DECREASE in torque by 2 and an increase in HP by less than 2 or so. So what you are saying? Is an overall decrease in power worth around $300? I'll give you that for half that price. =P
Your conversions are a tad off...800Euro is $1,000 US.

A small note: I did about a dozen 0-100 runs with the BMS PowerBox on and off, and with it on it was 0.5 seconds faster to 100kph on average. in fact i don't think i recorded a single BMS time that was slower than any stock time

Not if the 800 euro includes VAT, which wouldn't be applicable to an overseas customer...
