If you want it new w/o tune -- https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...catalogid=4462.
If you don't need a vent hose (which I believe our 128i's don't), you can get a small discount on the price.

You can get one used or new, never installed 3 stage IM on the FS section of either 1addicts or e90post. This is where I found mine for less than half the price including shipping.

I found mine used on www.car-part.com, a website that searches participating junkyards nationally. I don't remember exactly how much I paid - but it was around $250 shipped.

And this matches almost perfectly with my first stock dyno (on a dynojet) of 235hp/225tq. This is on a 2006 3.0si, I'm getting my AA tune in about two weeks.

Is the intake manifold from an n51 motor always going to be the three-stage DISA version that I want for my n52n?

Yes, I believe you can use the DISA from any SULEV/N51-equipped x28i. Mine came from a 328i. Use RealOEM to confirm part numbers.

No, that doesn't have the DISA actuator motors.

You can tell It's the 3 stage manifold when it has this box mounted right near that big hole

excuse my ignorance for the lack of the technical terms

Here's a little bit better of a picture. The Large disa valve is on the backside in this picture, and the small disa is on the front side.

Did you use the DISA valves that came with it or did you replace them w/ new units?

I purchased used as well both the intake manifold with intact DISAs. I bought new ones in case but went ahead and ran with the old ones after inspection. Its a waste to just replaced them if they're still in good working order being about $300 each. I would check the gaskets for any tears or rips and make sure the flaps are rigid and are not loose...not easily turned.

Depending on how you calculate the numbers, I gained over 30hp with just the active tune on my N51!

That's the correct one, but it doesn't have the DISA motors as he states. If you can get the DISA's separately for a good price than it may be worth it, but usually the DISA's are the expensive part, selling for around $300 a piece new.

I managed to find my manifold with both DISA sensors off a wrecked car for $280 shipped.

Check out Car-part.com and look for the 330i manifold(or x3 si, etc) and see what turns up on there. It seems like that's the best place to secure a manifold with both DISA flaps.

Thank you. i see you have the activeautowerke tune with it. Is that the best tune right now? What year models of the 330i have that intake?

Considering the salvaged manifold is ~$250 and the valves are $300, that isn't far off a new unit at $1,095. I just have to figure out if the "buying new" piece of mind is worth an extra ~$250.

I was very fortunate when I purchase mine. I was able to grab the set for $170 (manifold+DISAs) shipped with few expenses on the vent hose and was very lucky to obtain one of two new DISA valves for free. Almost 3 years now and engine running without a hitch with the used DISA. I know where you're coming from as $ was an issue but as well as reliability. Find one , see if its in good condition if not buy new valves.
