Scratch Advice needed

Got hit with the Blizzard two weeks ago and when shoveling behind my 1er scratched the rear deck lid. Just received an estimate from a body shop for $725. Don't know what to do. I could carefully use touchup paint... my car has 101K but this bothers me a lot. Any help on what would be a cheaper maybe better option. Thanks.

a nice sticker would be the cheapest option. Hard to tell where that is from the picture. You could always try touch up paint to see if you can live with it. Only a couple bucks. If you know how to wet sand, it'll minimize it greatly. It's not going to change the body shop's estimate later.

Yes, of course I can use touch-up paint which I already have. I was thinking someone on this site may have dealt with a similar issue. And had a different method that worked well. I can always check youtube & the "junkman" just made a post here that I'll watch.

dr color chip is probably the best touchup paint I've used

Have you tried compounding it? It might buff some of it right out. Where in PA are you??

Yeah I will try that first. I live outside Philadelphia.
I just ordered the scratchwizard kit. Has a putty, touch up, etc... I will give the compound a try before I do any paint repair.

I think Dr. ColorChip might be a good choice as well if you're looking for an alternative to an expensive, professional job. Check out some of the videos on YouTube.

Nothing will fix that "scratch" you will need to paint the trunk lid.

You might want to look into a "smart repair" guy... who would come to your house and paint the area on the car with a very small airbrush. Most dent doctor places can do this too. Good Luck
