@Sedona Rick - I recently had it removed, but you can find sound clips on You Tube. It's got an excellent deep sound that resonates nicely. It isn't intrusive either, and the cabin noise is minimal. I can refer you to a personal friend of mine for the install. He had it done very quickly (about 2-3 hours) and he's professional. I'll put in a good word and he probably wont charge you too much.

For what it's worth, I am extremely happy with mine, and if this unit is in good quality, it's a pretty good price too. It sounds aggressive and loud when I want it to be, but can be civilized enough to not draw negative attention when I don't. It is pretty loud on a cold startup though, which is probably why OP's family doesn't like it. During regular driving if you keep the RPM's low and your foot light on the gas, it's not bad at all. If you nail it though, my family has heard me coming from down the street
