BMW Performance Steering wheel w/ LED's!!!

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
EDIT: SOLD!!!!

Hello all,

I recently purchased a test fitted but never used performance steering wheel (no paddle cutouts) from another member, which got to me yesterday. The wheel looks superb and came with all components including a user's manual.

This thread is to simply test the waters and see if there is any interest in this wheel before I have it installed, since yesterday BMW finally released the new performance wheel, and I may be interested in that one. The advantage of getting this one is obviously the hefty discount and not having to pay the $1499 that they listed for when available.

Also, as a bonus, this one comes with the alcantara-wrapped trim and a set of control buttons, so whoever ends up with this wheel will be able to sell the stock one as a whole, minus the airbag.

Throw some offers my way if interested! I'm looking to be in the $800-900 range.

Thanks!

And now to the eye candy:

What is the difference between yours and the new one that BMW just announced?

Just look.

I have the wheel you are selling and can attest that it is a GREAT piece to have. If you track your car then the oil/water temp gauge is great to have!

As onefastman said, functionality is amazing. The functionality is the same for both wheels. The one I just got is made of leather AND alcantara sides, whereas the new one is all alcantara. Also, the new one has the flat bottom like the non-electric existing one. It's just a matter of preference.

The new one has slightly different shaped shift lights that I believe are oLED.

Functionally they are essentially the same and it's a matter of taste.

Very tempting! Can you tell me what it envolves to transfer my airbag in to this steering wheel? Im a newb when it comes to steering wheels. Basically, does this have to be installed by a dealership or is it a DIY thing??

There is a lengthy but detailed DIY, or you can pay the dealer the 1.5 hours per instructions to install. It shouldn't be too difficult. The airbag pops out by sticking a medium sized flathead screwdriver into the dimples on the side of the steering wheel. By the way, battery MUST be disconnected while doing this.
