HP Autowerks E82/E9X Rear Toe Arms

HP Autosport, Inc. proud to introduce its E82/E9X adjustable rear toe arms. These arms allow for greater toe adjustment for vehicles that have lowered on coilover suspension. For E82/E9X owners with just lowering springs, these are not a necessary requirement.

How Low Can You Go?
When an E82/E9X is lowered beyond the limits of just lowering springs, the rear wheels toe-in excessively. This excessive rear toe can cause increased tire wear (faster than more camber). As an example, here are the specifications for the E9X M3.

Factory Toe Specs Value
Min +0.10
Max +0.20
Preferred +0.15


On a recent install of coilovers, we discovered that the toe of the rear wheels had an incurable +0.81 left and right toe. Unfortunately, with the stock toe arms, we could not dial out the toe. Therefore, creating a strong, more adjustable part was in order.

For standard spring-only suspension installs, there is enough adjustment in the factory toe arms to bring them back into spec.

The Right to Bear (Stronger) Arms
The sophisticated (and some say complicated) rear suspension of the current E82/E9X will undoubtedly be replicated by many other companies in the future. However, for those of us in the aftermarket, we're still learning about the little quirks of the suspension. By applying our experience with our E36 and E46 suspension components, we have built arms that are strong and lightweight, while serving the needs of the rear suspension adjustments.

Hey Harold...do you have a link for the install ? Just curious if I can jack the car up and do it myself, based on the position it looks pretty simple. My shop can do the alignment.

If you are not able to get more positive camber because you are limited by the binding of the toe arms then the answer is yes.

Camber plates are for the front of the car. These are for toe and to free up the bind in the rear for more or less rear camber.

Pardon the newbie questions ...

Beyond the toe adjustment flexibility these provide, I assume they also add greater torsional stability than the stock sheet metal toe arms?

When tracking a 135i, do these take as much load as rear upper guide links and upper wishbone arms? Im wondering if these toe links are as beneficial than M3 guide links and wishbone arms?

These toe links provides not only more adjustments, but also reduces flex, which causes unwanted toe changed under load. And toe changes hurts traction in both straight line and in a corner. These will provide more benefit than the upper M3 links, but may be on par with the guide links.

As an alternative, are the E92/M3 toe arms a direct replacement for the E82 stock toe arms? I know these would not be adjustable though ...

Moreover can I use it on a 1 series coupe (I have a 120d which has the same rear axle than the 125/128i) without the low caber link (I plan to buy this huge piece in a couple of month with some decent suspensions) ? And without swapping the wheel support ?
