Installed JB4 now bad waste gate rattle

Hey guys so as the title says I had my jb4 installed at a shop and now I have bad wastegate rattle. Mainly on decel from 2500 to idle it rattles bad. I know its not the turbos cause I just had the turbos done at the dealer and they were fine before. Any suggestions as to whats going on? thanks!

Ditch the JB4 unless you love having a throttle response that sucks, inconsistent (but as advertised) power, and crappy fueling. There's really no excuse when flash tunes for the N54 are so mature and inexpensive. Also, the JB4 install is so simple an actual trained monkey could install it, so you missed out by taking it to a shop. That's fine, though, because it means you can take that piece of junk out yourself.

Regarding the question you actually asked, sorry, I don't have any advice.

You really notice what needs fixing once you start upping up boost. You may have to live with it if you just got them replaced.

it has nothing to do with the jb4. Your wastegate position changed since instal causing noise. You can ajust the wastegate position through settings to quiet it down. This noise is a good indication of wastegates that are loose. In a few thousand miles you should be able to get the dealer to cover under turbo warranty if your in the USA .Good choice with the jb4 I've had mine since jb3 and love it! I also love when I get to smash on the flash tuned guys and watch them cry 😂😂

For reference on wastegate fix through jb4

Very true , but he also said "they were fine" before the replacement. Which leads me to believe they maybe be damaged or defected . Recently I had my second set replaced after being inspected only 1 months after installation. My buddy is the master teach at local BMW dealer. When he was doing a recall he noticed my "new turbos" we're all dented/scuffed up. He suspects the previous tech dropped them priori or to install. Opened claim with BMWNA and they replaced them for free. That being said idk if he's possibly running downpipes, which would be more likely ? Even healthy turbos give off wastegate rattle when running catless dps (for the most part). I have AR catless downpipes and even with brand new turbos I got a faint tick under 2k Rpms when I would let the Rpms drop too 0. After a few thousand miles it got a bit more pronounced, but has stayed constant for last 20k miles .

Yeah that's the way I look at it as well. One of the drawbacks of the n54 design, but one more reason to upgrade those snails 😜. More power and thicker wastegates design!

thanks guys for your response! i went ahead and adjusted the jb4....It was at the 1k mark (im assuming that = 10) up to 2.5k (im assuming that = 25) and it helped quite a bit. Theres still rattle from about 1700-1300 but not nearly as bad as before. I might just learn to live with it if i have to!

Also sorry i forgot to mention i am fbo, dps, mids, axle back, intercooler, charge pipe, bov, ect.....

Adjusting it will also lower performance/throttle sensitivity slightly. In all honesty with catless dps you'll always hear a bit of flutter/rattle when the needle starts to drop under 2k . The setting is for people who have it pretty bad and cant get new turbos (out of warranty, broke, ect). Happy it worked for you, and your right with FBO its just something we must learn to live with until we upgrade those pesky watsegates.
