Oil found next to coil (N54)

Hi all - fairly new to this forum and hoping someone can direct me to a fix to my problem. I was replacing my plugs last week and found oil on some of the spark plugs. I don't know if it was inside or from outside. If it was outside i probably let is drain inside. I drove it for a week and opened it back up to see if it is pooling again. I found a good pool of oil just beside the coil #2 and #4. It is probably pooling high enough and then seeping into the spark plug well and gathering on top of the plug.

Any one experience this and was able to fix it? I've seen some valve cover gasket posts but the leak wasn't necessarily in the same area. Any advice?

Most likely you have crack in your valve cover somewhere. It looks like you have a little oil on the injector too.

Thanks. Will look into replacing the VC gasket. The oil on injector... Would you say that is something different or same valve cover problem?

I had the same thing happen to me at 40K miles. It ended up being a cracked valve cover. I've been told this is fairly common. If you do it yourself, definitely replace the gasket. Another area to look out for is the oil filter housing gasket.

Resolution

What was the solution to the oil you found? I just went to change my plugs and found the same thing.
