Uh, I was refering to the stock M's parts... From the BMW press release:
"Both the front and rear axles feature hollow anti-roll bars optimized for their function and weight." That it may be. I do miss my old E46 M3 occasionally, and this thing looks much more tunable...

There is only a very limited production run, with no likelihood of extending since the 1 Series will be facelifted next year and then a completely new 1 Series (which looks totally different to the present car) will be on sale a year or two thereafter. This is BMW 'dipping their toes' in the water and producing a special model towards the end of the life of an existing model. Better get your order in for a 1 Series M Coupe while there's any stock still available... |

Nav is an option in the UK, as standard it comes with BMW Radio Business. Options include Comfort Access, HK Surround Sound, Professional Nav, Adaptive Lights and High Beam Assist, Metallic Paint, Bluetooth, Electric Seats, Heated Seats, Sun Protection Glass, Folding Exterior Mirrors. You might have these contained in specific upgrade packages, but that's how it looks in the UK. No, you cannot have it without iDrive - iDrive is used for several of the parameters for MDM. Numbers - very limited. Looks like 450 in the UK and 1000 in the US. |

Not sure what you mean, there is an options list available on the 1 Series M Coupe just like any other BMW model.
I have just updated my post from last night to include a photo of the spec sheet for the car we photographed yesterday. http://www.skiddmark.com/2010/12/09/...eries-m-coupe/ |

I haven't seen any dimensions in the information provided to us by BMW, but from the looks of them I'd say they were the same size as the previous generation E46 M3. They are hollow ARBs as per the E46 M3 and given the similar weight, I'd expect them to be close if not identical.

The engine is certainly more sophisticated than a regular 135i/335i, but a really good tuner who already understood the N54 should be able to handle it. |

So let's call it £40k (is that the starting price next year or in today's money?
Will the price go up by 2.5% when the VAT increase comes into effect in January? Taking the starting price to £41k. Or is the £40k including that? I have to have NAV, so I'm looking at £42-£44k That's almost £3k more than the similarly specced RS3. |

Does the RS3 come as standard with NAV? I haven't looked at its spec yet. Also one thing to bear in mind is that the 1 Series M Coupe will be very limited in numbers (no more than 450) whereas the RS3 will be plentiful, and I'd be prepared to bet which one will hold its value more. |

Historically haven't RS cars had the better residual values? I thought RS3 was limited to 2700 units as well. Cheers, Mark. |

The RS3 Sportback is quite a subtle RS model and I suspect it will lose some kudos because of this and whilst I'm a big fan of the TTS and TT RS, I found the Audi S3 to lack the chassis fluidity of it's TT brethren. Perhaps the increased wheelbase of the Sportback has addressed this characteristic, but I still cannot imagine the RS3 would be a patch on the 1M for chassis dynamics. It really depends on which appeal to you most, but I wouldn't chose based on the list price. |

Do you need satnav prof. for M settings like throttle response etc. DSC off etc.
I think white or black is best colour for this car. |

However I need NAV for my job and don't fancy sticking a £150 Garmin on the dash and cluttering it up. |

Out of interest whats iDrive? I agree when spending this amount of money on a car you dont want nor should you clutter it up with an aftermarket nav

To be honest I think it will look good in either of the 3 colours. If you'd like the BadAss look then Saphire Black will do the trick, Alpine White will be very visible and Valencia Orange is somewhere in between (noticeable, but classy). |

It's the BMW equivalent of Audi's MMI - a sophisticated in-dash control panel for adjusting all sorts of settings including the time for lights to dim, locking doors, all the radio and music settings, plus BMW's Connected Drive with access to Google Maps and BMW Assist.
