How to add fuel additive to gas tank?
The gas tank flap (the one where you insert the gas nozzle) is so far in that it's impossible to use something like Redline S1.
How are you guys doing it? Just using a screw driver or similar to hold the flap open? Thanks |

I typically use a bottle of Techron which has a long enough nozzle to put it in. Otherwise I'd use a funnel, which is a bit more difficult.

I've already got one! LOL!
But wanted to put the additive in at the gas station. It's just too messy (to me!) to whip out a funnel at the station, pour the additive in, then find somewhere to stash the funnel that's dripping additive. |

Yeah... had the same issue. I used it at home before I made my trip to fill up.

These. I carry one in my car/SUV. Perfectly fits in and easier to carry, just stuff a paper towel in it for when you're done. My dads GMC sierra came with it though so i just took his :

All of the additives I've used (Techron, Liqui Moly Jectron and Valve Clean) have had a narrow pouring tube integrated with the bottle which made pouring pretty easy. Otherwise I'd use one of those long narrow funnels intended for transmission fluid or the like.

How often are you using additives, and for what? to increase detergent above what the gas already has? to increase octane above 92?

I was trying to add Redline water remover. Due to the humidity here and the fact that Hawaii is still adding ethanol to the gas there's a good chance that water accumulates in the gas tanks. I do use Redline SI-1 or Techron periodically also.

take a glass jar, fill it with some fuel, make a mark where the level is, let it sit for lets say 2 months. did the level change? how much is water? it'll be easy to see due to aqueous phase separation.
you may find (should find) you're wasting money on a problem that does not exist. |

Nice to hear you'll be back in a few months.
No, I haven't heard when the Pali will be open. But then again, if any, is between Hawaii Kai and town so I'm not too affected by Pali closure. |
