Removing gum from floormats...

Yesterday, a golfing buddy tracked some gum onto my front passenger floormat. Any suggestions for removing this mess? (The gum, not him.)

Try the adhesive remover Goo Gone or orange solvent. Then use carpet cleaner to remove solvent residue.

peanut butter - then how do you get the peanut butter smell out? ; -)

(Seem to remember that as a "Hint from Heloise" - shows you how old I am ; -)

But a quick google turned up this: http://www.ehow.com/tips_1554.html

It tracks (pun intended) with what the other posters have said.

Thanks, all - I like the smell of peanut butter (and we have some at the house) so I may try that first!

WD-40 is your friend.

Spray on liberally, remove gum with plastic bristled scrub brush... Shampoo carpet afterwards.

Thank me afterwards.

I'd like to find the dolt who spit their gum onto the course/parking lot and make he or she (statistically a 'he' at the golf course) pay.
