0 to 60 mph Coupe vs Vert???? 135i
I was on the BMW NA website and they have specs on the 135i from 0 to 60 and top speed. When I went on the Convertible side they had no data it was TBD. Is the Convertible just as fast as the coupe???

They don't let em on the track to find out:wink:. I presume they are mechanically identical with respect to the powerplant.

BMW Convertibles are heavier than there hard top counterparts so the car will be slightly slower in the 0 – 60 range. You could look at the 0 – 60 times of the 335i hard top vs. vert and that would give you an idea for the difference. IMO if you want the vert the 0 – 60 times do not matter since it is so small a difference. And if you are looking at only 0 – 60 times the AT is usually slower than MT but the gap has been closing in the last few years.

The 335 vert (3946lbs) weights 375lbs more than the 335 coupe (3571lbs).
The 135 vert (3660lbs) weights 287lbs more than the 135 coupe (3373lbs). Keep in mind that these weights are for the lightest models. If you get the power seats, nav, AT and all the options, you jack the weight up. I would think the 135 convertible will be about 0.2 to 0.3s slower than the coupe. C&D tested the coupe and got a 4.7s 0-60. So the coupe should be about 5.0s. Certainly not slow. I recall that BMW rates the AT only 0.1s slower 0-60. Since the AT adds about 80lbs to a car over the MT, that small difference is more likely due to the additional weight of the AT than anything else. Note: weights taken from Edmunds.com |

THE ANSWER!
Here is BMW's official 0-60 data with manual tranny ... The Coupe = 5.1 seconds The Conv. = 5.4 seconds As we already know, C&D test results were much better than that. They measured the Coupe's 0-60 at 4.7 seconds!! So, based on BMW's conservative numbers, we are talking only 3/10ths slower 0-60 for the 'vert. But in real life, it could be even closer than that! At some point in the future, we might see some real-life 'vert numbers as well. Very impressive numbers for the 135i in both body styles!!
