128i oil cooler mounting location (need help)
I’ve got my oil cooler install 90% done. The last thing to do is mount the core. Does anyone have any pics of where they mounted theirs?
Not finding much online with any detail. Thanks!

There's a bracket that sandwiches between the front bumper bar and the frame rail. That's what it mounts to. You'll need to find one off of a 135i, or new they're about $200. Part number is 51647154546.

I ended up drilling through the bumper bar and mounting directly to that. Had to trim the interior of the bumper a bit to get it to fit back on.

Here's how it's supposed to be installed using the 135i bracket. I bought it with the oil cooler I sourced from a wrecked 135i being parted-out. spidertri

Looks good.
I'm going to use a universal 19 row core like the Setrab/Gplus/Mishimoto design, still haven't decided if I want to put it in the OE 135i location or lower center in front of the radiator.

I wouldn't put it in front of the radiator, as there's a lot there that needs the air (radiator, power steering cooler, A/C condenser).

I have the 128i sport/base bumper and don't plan to install an M-sport or Performance bumper so I'd have to remove the fog light and lower cover to get adequate airflow to the oil cooler if it's on that side.
If it's in the middle it gets tons of airflow and at low speeds the fan will pull air through it as well. Though on the side you'd have the high pressure of the bumper and, relatively, low pressure of the wheel well that will pull air through. Once I get the cooler in hand and I can pull the bumper off it'll probably be more obvious. I just want to make sure it gets as much airflow as possible.

Very true, but for NASA classing I want to keep the base model bumpers and get the BTM aero bonus.
